Olaf sat at the docks. Well, what were the docks, long ago.

How long had it been since they'd built the new one, way on the edge of the fjord? It was before they built the parliament, wasn't it?

Even snowmen became pensive over the years.

When she sat by him, he barely noticed her. Kristin understood. Once she asked him if he wanted her to magic away his cloud. "But who would remember them if I died?" he had replied. So when he sat like this, every so often, she imagined he must be doing just that.

Queen Elsa. It was strange, even to her descendant, how detached the name seemed. Olaf still called her Elsa when he spoke of her, but Kristin couldn't do that. Elsa, Anna, Kristoff…they were all just stories Olaf told her, separate from the people in the textbooks.

Even the revolution was like ancient history. King Magne IV had been a weak ruler, slow to change in the face of the modern world. But he was not so stupid as his detractors had expected, and when he stepped down following their demands Arendelle was ushered into the age of democracy.

So here was Kristin, normal as could be apart from the snow cloud that followed her when she was angry. She visited Olaf if she could, knowing that even the barest of resemblances to his long-lost creator were enough. No, that was unfair. Olaf did see Elsa in her, just a bit, but she was still Kristin to him.

But sometimes, but sometimes….

She remembered when he had looked up at the statue of Queen Elsa that summer's day, as they took down the restoration scaffolding. Eventually he turned back to her, and, even though she knew better, she swore she saw tiny rivulets of snowmelt cascading down his face. He looked at her even longer than the statue before he announced that they should go look at flower stalls dotting the plaza.

Now, he finally noticed her.

"Kristin!"

"Hi, Olaf."

He gave her his usual hug, and then they wandered off to take in the sights and sounds of yet another June day in Arendelle.
