A Meeting of Two Lucksters
Makoto Naegi was exhausted after his first day at Hope's Peak Academy.
His bad luck got him in trouble with his seniors and being surrounded by Ultimates with impressive talents and unique personalities made him feel a bit overwhelmed.
He was deep in his thoughts as he walked towards the school fountain when he hears someone yell
"Hey watch out!"
He turned and saw a scooter screeching and loosing control and the front tyre hits and knocks Makoto to the ground.
The driver crawls away from the scooter and takes of the helmet while I sitting position.
A tall girl with short black hair hisses in pain as she looks around.
"Ow,ow!Just my luck"
She then noticed the brunette lying on the ground looking completely stunned
"Oh my God!Are you alright?
I'm so sorry about that."
He just chuckled awkwardly
"I'm all right.
This happens a lot actually"
He muttered about his bad luck which she overheard.
'Luck?'
She took notice of his average appearance which didn't indicate his talent.
Then it clicked
"Oh!Now I remember!You are the Ultimate Luckster of the just enrolled first years.
You caused a scene during the welcome ceremony"
The poor boy looked away with embarrassment
"Sorry"
She started laughing
"Sorry for what?It was hilarious!Even if it intentional and out of your control."
He looked at her with surprise with how casually she is talking to him,unlike the other Ultimates as got herself up.
"Many of the Ultimates here are my friends but are so invested in their work it kind of refreshing when dumb stuff happens like in a normal school"
She offers him a hand to help him stand up which he accepted after a moment of surprise.
"I'm Mai Tanabe,Ultimate Luckster in my Third year"
He perked up on learning she has same talent as him
"Oh!I'm Matoko Naegi,also the Ultimate Luckster.
Pleased to meet you Tanabe-san"
He said with formality and nervousness nervousness which she thought was rather funny
"Just call me Mai."
