Revenge

"You know Dib, you should have seen this coming."

Zim stood above the dying body of his former enemy, the poison toxins of the newly conquered Earth swirling around them. Dib should have been dead by the killer air. This thought bothered him.

"You were outmatched, outmanned, and out positioned. Surely you knew that." Zim couldn't help think about the boy's foolishness, he should have saved himself.

"I did." His voice was raspy, but not weak; Zim admired this about him.

"Your technology was childish."

"It was."

"Your body was weak."

"So was yours."

"Your head is ginormous."

"So is yours, space boy."

"You fail to take this seriously." Zim felt insulted by his lack of fear.

"I fail to let you win." The blood on his glasses hid his eyes, but Zim was sure they were not afraid.

"But Dib, I'm afraid I have won. Look around you." Dib didn't look, but Zim didn't care, he still won, and would not let the child take this victory from him. "Earth is death, I have killed it. You lost Earth-boy."

Dib smiled, "No Zim, you lost. You knew the tallest wouldn't let you back. You knew they weren't coming." Zim's contempt faltered, "You knew you wouldn't go back to Irk. This was your only home, and you said it yourself, you killed it." His smirk vanished, and was replaced by fury.

"You FOOL! I stand here on your obliterated home, while you lay dying at my feet. Don't deny it Dib, you're DEAD. I killed you, along with your pitiful planet. You didn't win, I did! You are in agony, I'm not! You failed, NOT ME!"

Dib's eyes flared, "No, Zim! This is YOUR planet too, wither you like it or NOT. You struck a final blow against YOURSELF. Your leaders aren't coming back. You're stuck here JUST LIKE ME."

Neither of them spoke.

"Dib,"

"Alien."

A question still rattled his pak, "The atmosphere is poisoned; why doesn't it hurt you?"

Dib smiled, "Because I have something to live for,"

Zim thought for a moment, and then smirked. "My goal was to destroy the Earth, which I did. This victory might have been bittersweet, but I won. I won our game."

"Enjoy your victory, Zim." Dib couldn't believe him, "Because thanks to you, both of us will die. Happy now?"

Zim raised his gun to Dib's head.

"Very."
