Chapter 1
Night, Star, and Moon cuddled up to their mother's belly hoping to get warm on the cold leaf-bare day. Their mother, Oak, rolled and squished Moon's little tail. Moon squeaked waking Star and Oak up. Night layed restlessy watching the whole event unfold. Oak stood up leaving her kits blindly pawing around to try to find her. Oak had built a nest made of browned moss that was damaged from leaf-bare to keep her kits and herself isolated from the snow.
"Since I'm up i might as well go catch some prey." she mumbled to herself then padded off. Night, Star, and Moon huddled together for warmth. They drifted off to sleep. In his sleep, Moon rolled away from the others and fell off the moss nest and into the snow.
Sunrise came and the kits' mother returned. She found Moon laying in the snow with the other kits around him, their noses pressed into his fur. "What happened?" she asked. Both kits tried explaining at the same time so it was just a jumble of words. She stopped them and said " Night, explain."
"When Star and me woke up, Moon was gone." he squeaked. "I opened my eyes and looked for you but you were gone. I figured you were still out hunting. Star stood up and searched the nest but no luck. I climed out of the nest and found Moon laying in the snow. I nosed him but his body was cold with no body heat left. I called Star over and he declaired 'moon is gone!'"
Oak went over to Moon and said her final goodbyes in silence. The kits left her alone to greive for the loss. They silently practiced their hunting crouch. Right when it was Night's turn, Oak padded up behind him. "We're moving into the forest a short way away from here. If the clans that live there do not exept us we'll still live there, the trees will provide more shelter than this open moorland."
"Why?" Star squeaked.
"Because I told you so and I'm your mother." she said sternly.
I'll post the next chapter soon... I'm not feelng well so I will have plenty of time to type.
