Dark Times for Change:

Prologue

So of course this is the stereo typical disclaimer. I don't own the X-men, or anything affiliated with it. However, I claim rights to the plot, and original character's in the following story for myself. Please don't use them with out my permission; I've spent a lot of time thinking of who they are. I'm not trying to make money off of this, I'm just trying to learn to write more proficiently, and to enjoy the creative ideas that the x-men put forth.

The man bolted down the hall way, his matted hair flying every which way in his haste. His eyes were wide in panic, never catching the smooth metallic walls, the twitching cameras, and the soft swish of the automatic doors. That is, until he ran into one door that didn't open with a loud thud. His soiled rags for clothing scraped harshly against his skin as he scrabbled to get up against the door again, his finger nails digging against the steel of the door. The loud thud of boots resounded down the hall, like the roar of a watery death approaching.

As it drew closer, the man began to scratch at a smooth metal band around his neck. It was slim and gleamed like steel, though where it ended or started was not apparent. His nails began to dig in to his neck in his furious dash to get the band off, but to no avail. Five men trooped around the corner, dressed in sharp white and blue uniforms. They each had an armored vest over their uniforms, pins designating rank and station in the group. They all wielded a simple device in their hands. It looked like a meter save the two prongs in the front. As they stopped less than five feet from the escaped man, they each pressed a button on the object, sending all the prongs flying forward. They impacted the man with soft thuds, and a quick zap as electricity shot through the tight spirals of coil that each prong was tethered to.

The escapee collapsed in a twitching smoking heap. As he did so, four of the guards moved forward to secure him as the middle clicked a com on his shoulder. "The Anomaly is secure; we're bringing him back to his cell now. I recommend harsher imprison environs to dissuade this kind of behavior in the future."

Welcome to the dark age of mutants. The time of ideals, the age of Professor Xavier is over. The threat of a mutant human war is over, as it has already happened. However, the mutants despite their numerous abilities were defeated before it even began. With the discovery of the x-gene, and the development of the harnesser collar mutants could assume a normal life. It was backed by the United States government, and opened mutant homes. For three years, the "Mutant Community for Normal Living" offered refuge, normality, and a way to curb unruly powers. These centers had a few problems with controlling powers in the beginning, which led to the building of walls around each of the cities built for mutants. The public reason was to protect those with out mutant powers from the rogue powers, as well as to protect the mutants from being harassed in hard situations of lack of control. The technical reason would arise months before Magneto amassed his army of mutants to storm capital hill. As the war approached, the centers became none as Anomaly Control Centers, and mutants became a derogatory mention on mutants. As the attacks by rogue anomalies increased the anomali8es of the ACC's were addressed. Many joined the government in defending the country. This led to the rise in power of the Anomaly Relations and Protections Agency of the government. In conjunction with the U.S. military the SAT's were formed. Sanctioned Anomaly Team's began to combat Magneto in the coming war.
