A/N: Inspired by The Script's song Talk you down. I heard it at work one day and just had to write this. While at work while I had nothing to do. For AkuRoku day 2011. It's short, I know.
Talk you down
A Kingdom Hearts - AkuRoku fanfic
The clock had struck two and darkness had overtaken the city. As most of their fights, this one had started around midnight. A glass hit the wall next to him; with the shattering anger flooded inside of him and he suddenly had a hard time breathing. He tried not the scream, say things out of anger, yelling insults he didn't really mean.
It was hard, hard to stop himself, hard to reason with himself. It was hard to remind himself of the love he had for his partner, the younger man yelling at him, throwing whatever he could reach. Axel didn't hear anything he yelled, he didn't listen to the words, maybe out of anger, maybe because he had learned that they never meant anything.
But this time he was wrong, this time it was different. This time the fight wasn't out of the blue, this time there was a reason, this time the blond had had enough, this time he was leaving.
"I'm leaving Axel." The dreaded words, spoken in the middle of the night by him, standing next to a suitcase and tears in the blue eyes. Axel gaped, tried to breathe, tried to speak, tried to avoid fainting. A sad smile, a "sorry it came to this" and a "I'm gonna stay with some friends, I'll be fine" later he was out the door, down the stairs and out of the lanky red heads life.
Like hell.
He lit up a cigarette, calming himself down before pulling his shoes on and running down the stairs to the parking lot, not bothering to tie his shoes or locking the door. Without Roxas it wasn't worth anything.
('Cause if you go, I go.)
He raced through the streets, heading for the one place he could think of. Hopefully Roxas hadn't gotten that far, he couldn't have. Of course he himself could have been gone for far longer in shock than he figured. He pushed that thought away and focused on the task at hand, putting his foot to the gas-pedal and speeding through the city.
He knew the city like the back of his hand and all the best shortcuts to everywhere. He took them, going as fast as he dared (and sometimes a little faster when the teary blue eyes of the love of his life flashed through his head) and ignoring the fact that there could very well be police cars pretty much anywhere. He hoped he could get to Roxas before it was too late, convince him that their relationship had so much left and that doing this would be the end.
The real end.
He was there and he could see the hair he spent so many night pulling his fingers through and his heart soared. He couldn't believe it was coming to this, he needed to reach him, he needed to speak to him. He started running, feet light, heart racing and fear still flooding his mind.
All he needed was a minute, a few words and one hell of an kiss. Axel could only hope all was not lost.
End.
