Okay, this is for Think Purple 54's contest and fearofchicken's prize ^.^ Hope you both like them!

My feet splashed in the rain as I ran down the street. Salty tears streamed down my rosy cheeks, intertwining with the fresh, cold rain.

I hissed and whipped my small hand across my face, trying to get rid of the tears. I looked up, taking notice on how dark the sky was and listening closely on the sounds of the excess rain flowing down sewage drains and falling onto the street. Occasionally I would swipe my blonde locks out of my face, but to no avail, they would go back to their original position. I quickly swerved over to the next street, knowing exactly where to go.

I looked up ahead, seeing the large, white house with an enormous treehouse sticking out from it. I quickly scrambled up the steps, and knocked on the red-wood door. I could hear a crash and something -probably glass- shattering before a tall, bald teenager with black sunglasses wearing a red shirt with a white undershirt on.

"Rachel?" he questioned, as if we haven't seen each other in years. I sniffed and nodded. "What's wrong."

I shrugged in a giving up sort of fashion. "My-my dad." I managed to choke out, lunging my head to the boy's shoulder.

"What about your dad?" he asked.

"He… he just… left." I choked the last word into a mere whisper, as if it brought pain to me. I could feel Nigel place his hands on my back, and gently pat it.

"…I'm so sorry…" he finally responded.

I sniffed. "I don't know where he's going. No one does. I don't know when —or if— he's coming back, or if I'll see him again." I sobbed into the boy's shoulder.

"Don't worry, Rachel. I've got you. I'll protect you. I'll be there for you when he isn't. I'll be by your side for him." I looked up at him. His face was so soft, so caring and gentle. "Dry those tears and smile. I love you smile." I couldn't help but take his advise and curve my lips into a smile. "There, perfect." he muttered, before leaning down to kiss me.

Aw, poor Rachel :( I've expirienced something like that, though I still see my dad...
