La La Land

June 2013

Dan and Serena were laying down on the couch in Dan's apartment watching a movie. This had become an almost nightly tradition since they got back together six months ago. Although Serena wasn't officially moved in, she had more stuff there than Dan did. They laid there together just enjoying being in each other's arms until Dan broke the amicable silence.

"I want you to come to L.A. with me."

"What?"

Serena was confused. Dan told her earlier in the day that the producers of the movie for his book wanted him to come out to L.A. to be a consultant on set, but she didn't think Dan wanted her to come with him since the trip was for work.

"I don't want to be away from you for a month."

Serena sits up on the couch and now they're sitting face to face.

"But this movie is important for you. I don't want to be a distraction."

"You're never a distraction, Serena."

She gives him a look letting him know she doesn't believe that. He laughs.

"Okay fine. You're never a bad distraction," he says while giving her the signature Dan Humphrey half smirk, half smile.

Serena smiles back.

"Are you sure you want me there?"

"Yes, Serena, I want you there, I want you here, I want you everywhere," he says the last part suggestively.

Serena slaps his chest playfully.

"Dan, now's not time for sexual innuendoes."

"I know, I'm sorry. But yes, I'm sure. I want you there. And so do the producers. I mentioned your name to them and told them about your time working with Jane and they want you there too."

"Oh my God, Dan! Seriously?!" Serena jumped into Dan's arms excitedly.

"Yes, who wouldn't want The Serena van der Woodsen working on their movie?" Dan said as he wrapped his arms around her.

"Dan, this is so exciting! Thank you for letting me be a part of this with you!"

"If anyone should be thanked, it's you, Serena. This movie wouldn't be happening without you. You're its star. And mine too."

Serena leaned down and kissed Dan softly.

"I'm really glad I'm coming to L.A. with you. I don't think I could've survived at my mom's apartment for a month while you were gone" she whispered into his ear.

Dan looked up at her amused.

"Why would you have stayed at your mom's apartment?"

"Where else would I have stayed, Dan?"

"Serena, 75% of your stuff is already in this apartment. You spend most your days and nights here. When are you going to stop pretending that this is just my apartment? It's actually more yours than mine considering you have more things here than I do!"

"Well you never actually asked me to move in, Dan."

"I didn't know I had to ask. You know I want you here with me all the time."

"You do?"

"Yes, Serena. I love you and I would love nothing more than to have you live with me."

"So you'll help me move in the rest of my stuff at 8?" She said, smiling up at him.

Dan smiles back, catching on right away.

"You'd really move in with some guy you just started dating again 6 months ago?"

"Well you can't be worse than the guys …" Before she could finish the sentence, Dan cut her off with a kiss.

Dan cupped Serena's face in his hands and tilted it up, so he could look into her beautiful eyes. He couldn't believe how lucky he was to have his forever girl back for good.

"Thank you for the last six months, thank you for agreeing to officially move in and come to L.A. with me, and most importantly, thank you for choosing to swim with me. I love you," he said softly.

"I love you too, Dan. I always will."

They both laid back down on the couch to finish watching the movie. Dan wrapped his arms around Serena's waist and they laid there feeling content and more in love and excited about their future than ever.
