I sat here staring blankly at the computer screen.
He was on but then he had logged off, he usually did this, so I was waiting for him to get back on, so I could tell him I was about five minutes from his town, but he never did. I laughed as I put my laptop in my suitcase that I had on the back seat of the cab I rented, and looked out the window.
He wasn't kidding when he said it was a five-minute town.
I was pulled out f my thoughts by the rude cab driver. "That'll be forty-five." "Miss?"
"Huh?" Was all I could manage to say.
"The tab. You owe me forty=five dollars." He grumbled.
I handed him the money, and didn't wait for my change. I was out of the car before he could turn around.
I walked up to a man passing me on the street. "Excuse me sir, would you mind giving me some help?" I said using my best lost-person-who-is-totally-hot- voice, and my sister Soelle described it.
"Why yes, what can I do for you young lady?" He said, speaking to me like I was a five year old, not worth his time.
"I need to find the Shaw household. Can you point me in the general direction?" I said, letting the annoyance creep into my voice.
"Oh yes, well you go right down this main street, then you make a left and you'll hit the residential area, you go about a mile or so down, and you'll see a dirt road, at the end there you'll see the Shaw household." He said pointing in odd directions with his hands.
I walked to the end of the main road I was on, and walked into a little store.
"Excuse me. Is there a place I can change?" I asked the store clerk.
"Yes there is a bathroom up the stairs." She said before blowing a rather large gum-bubble, and turning back to her Teen Scene magazine.
I walked up the stairs and changed into the outfit I brought.
I was a black corset dress that laced up tightly in the front, my favorite lace tights, and combat boots. I put my hair up into a high ponytail and re-did my make up from the natural tones I had, to black eye shadow, dark green liner, and a deep blood red lip stick. I looked like a true Goth, which is exactly what I wanted. If I was going to be meeting the guy I had been dating for almost two ears, I was going to do it in style.
I walked out of the store, the girl looking up at me in shock; I truly looked different from when I walked into the store, not ten minutes before.
"Thank you." I said
She popped another bubble, her eyes still huge. I walked down the residential area, getting excited looks from almost every guy that saw me, and evil glares from all the girls.
I walked down to the dirt road, there was a small wall on either side of the road, so I his my suit case behind one of them , and walked down the small road to a large-ish house.
I ranf the door bell, and waited for an answer.
When the door opened for me, I saw the person I wanted to see.
"James?" I asked, hopefully.
"No." He laughed. "Who are…" he began to ask, but then his eyes glimmered with knowledge. "Hold on." He said closing the door.
I stood there listening to the sound of pounding feet, and a loud crash.
The door re-opened, and there he stood, still buttoning up his pants.
"Hey." I said trying not to laugh.
He just stood looking at me like I was the Messiah.
'H…hey." He said, finally, as his brother burst out laughing in the background.
