A/N: This is just a small fluffy family like one shot that popped into my mind.
Ururu sat up quickly from her bed and looked around the room. It was just a nightmare. Nothing bad was going to happen anytime soon. She looked at the other bed that had Jinta in it; he was still snoring away peacefully. She took in steady deep breathes and calmed herself down.
She stood up and walked into the kitchen portion of the shoten/ home and grabbed a glass and filled it with water. She sat on her chair and looked into the cup. She took a sip and put it back on the table. She let out a sigh that came out almost as a soft whimper. The nightmare was stronger than the other one's she had that week. She whipped her eyes off and put her head on the table and the dream came back to her.
Jinta, Urahara, Tesai, and herself were walking on guard in Los Noches when a group of hollows appeared out of nowhere. Jinta and she took after one group while the other two took on the closest group.
The feeling of war was all around them and everyone was in battle. She positioned herself and started shooting. She was focusing on all the spots around her when she felt one hit her from the side. She rolled away and crashed into a rock. She went into one of her modes that when she is hurt whoever hurt her must be eliminated.
The hollow that attacked her came at her again and she eliminated it but in the process one was stalking behind her hiding its spirit pressure. Jinta looked over to the girl he thought to be a sister and noticed the hollow behind her. He started running towards her yelling, "Ururu! Look out!" She turned around and her eyes went wide.
Before the hollow could attack her Jinta pushed her out of the way and took the full force of the hit to the chest. The normally quite girl watched as the boy she saw as a brother get killed and screamed out, "JINTA!!"
She jumped out of her spot at the table, her tears coming more quickly. "Jinta-kun, Jinta-kun." She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around to find Urahara standing there. "It's alright Ururu. Jinta is asleep." She buried her head into his stomach crying even harder. "Kisuke-san… please don't make him go to war. Please don't do that to my brother." He sighed and bent down holding the girl even tighter.
"Only time will tell Ururu. Now go to sleep. Everything will be better in the morning. Goodnight, little one." He picked her up and laid her back down and tucked her in. He placed a small kiss on her forehead and went back to his own room.
She stayed in her own bed and whimpered quietly to herself. Jinta stirred and looked over to the other bed. In the moonlight he could she the tears shinning and got up. He walked over to her bed and nudged her shoulder. "What's wrong?" She whipped her face and in a small voice said, "Nothing." He sighed, "You had the nightmare again didn't you?" She nodded looking at the boy. "I'm not going anywhere. Move over." She moved and he crawled under the blankets and pulled her into a hug.
"This is the last time. You're getting too old for this." She nodded and hugged back. "Thank you Jinta." He sighed again, "Baka." Once she fell asleep his eyes started to get heavy. "I'll always try and protect you." He fell asleep soon after.
In the morning Urahara walked into the room and let a soft smile cross his face. He looked at the two that were like siblings embracing each other. For now life was good and he walked away from the room and the two sleeping.
He would let them have the piece they deserved for a bit longer. He knew the unavoidable war would soon come and anything he could do to protect their childlike innocence for as long as possible he would do.
