Link knew that some foes were tough to beat. Especially that Majora's mask. That is why he was so SO thankful that he had the Fierce Deity mask. Made the thing frighteningly easy. But that wasn't the end of his problems.
Nooo.
Somehow, that Happy mask dude made the guy IN the mask, REAL! And in charge of his care. And where he was at the moment, was in the grasp of a guy that could stand over Darmani, the Goron brother of his on Death Mountain. And that is really saying something, since the Goron Sage was WELL over seven feet tall. If the Fierce Deity was to drop him, he would be in trouble without rolling.
"…You're really small for a hero. How did you use my mask again?" Oni, as Link had taken to calling him, was holding the kid by the scruff of the neck and all the kid could do was shrug with a look that clearly said, 'How do I know? I'm just a kid.'
"eheh…Magic?" Oni shrugged and put the boy down, making the man even taller in the boy's eyes.
"Now that you are here, I would like to inform you that you, Kishin, are to look after the boy and train him." Both looked at the Happy Mask Man like he was insane. Maybe the guy was, since he was grinning most amusedly.
"You must surely jest. I will not take care of a boy. I Will Not! I am a warrior!" The Mask Man merely waved his hand in dismissal. Link was about to pipe up with his own reason when a great and powerful voice shook the rocks in the earth.
"Kishin, if you wish to remain on this world as a mortal being and not a mask, then you shall watch after the Hero of Time of Hyrule. Only when you have finished this task in the way we Great Three wish may you leave and continue the journey you have started so many years ago." Both Kishin and Link looked at each other, one in abstract horror, the other in mild anger and confusion.
"Why do those three think so highly of you that they would need me to train you so?" Link was about to pipe up again when he was interrupted again. This is the reason why the kid rarely spoke.
"As the Great Lady Din has said, he is the Hero of Time and he is chosen of Farore. Now, be off. You're time for training the boy is wasting." The two looked back at each other, sizing the other up, and no pun intended.
That was, until Link had enough and tried running around in circles around Kishin. That earned him a trip up…by Kishin.
"Put me down and don't you dare drop me!" He was wiggling and kicking, his squirming making the giant of a man nearly chuckle in amusement. This will be fun if the boy's actions are anything to go by.
As Link was put on the ground, Kishin started walking to Clock Town and to the bustling market. The two got the things they needed for the trip to Hyrule. Kishin even got a horse from Cremia under three hundred Rupees and a verbal contract that he wouldn't kill the beast.
They were riding on the horses when a thought suddenly hit Link.
"What am I gonna tell Zelda?! And I haven't found Navi yet! This isn't fair!" Kishin, blinking twice before looking at Link in confusion, nudged the boy with his foot to get him to explain. And the little pipsqueak did.
"Ah. Just tell them I was an uncle looking for you and Navi is probably south of both Termina and Hyrule." Link nodded and let it slide. After all, he was going to be with the guy for awhile…Might as well get used to it.
And they did.

As I have said, a pic inspired this fic's appearance. This is supposed to be slightly corny, okay?!
