Completing Orders
"Are you ready to go Suzaku-san?" Ambassador Nunnally asked. The young woman sat in her motorized wheelchair, looking up at the figure in front of her. He was dressed in an indistinct costume of black, yellow and dark violet.
"Zero," Suzaku corrected, pulling the matching black mask to complete his outfit. His voice sounded cold and slightly distorted by the voice altering device installed within the Zero mask. "Please call me Zero."
"Of course, forgive me; Zero," Nunnally replied with a dip of her head.
"Just a moment," Zero replied stoically. Walking over to a table in the middle of the room Suzaku picked up a small bottle of cologne and sprayed it three times around his body; once on each of his sides and once behind him.
Nunnally's eyes widened as the perfume filled the room. She recognized the scent as Zero's instantly; it was subtle but left a lasting impression.
Suzaku noticed Nunnally's reaction. "I was given strict instructions by Lelouch, whenever I was to appear as Zero I must wear the same cologne he used so no one would realize that I am not the original Zero." He placed the bottle back on the table. "That guy always thought of everything. Going as far as to mask his scent…I must admit it worked on me. There were times when I thought Lelouch was Zero. Zero would say something that reminded me of Lelouch, but then I would remember the few times that I was near him and I'd… I can't believe how easily I was deceived." He ended, unable to finish his thoughts out loud.
The room filled with the sound of the hydraulics in Nunnally's chair as she moved near the black clad figure. Suzaku felt the pressure of her fingers in his gloved hand. "I miss him too." She said in a small voice squeezing his hand slightly. "But we cannot forget what it is we have to do now. My brother gave his life so that we could bring peace to the world."
He felt dizzy for a second. Like the wind had been knocked right out of him. Leave it to Nunnally to see the truth behind his words. Suzaku's shoulders stumbled forward and he let out a sigh, which echoed oddly in the mask. They remained there, silent for a moment, before Suzaku straightened up and removed his hand from the young Ambassador's grip.
"It's time we were on our way, Ambassador," he replied, turning on his heel he made for the door.
"Yes, of course Zero," Nunnally agreed, repeating her words earlier. Maneuvering her chair she also turned and followed the infamous leader of the Black Rebellion out of the room.
