The dark beauty fell to the floor and held her head in her hands. Tears fell mercilessly from her emerald eyes. The kind officer tried to comfort her by gently putting his hand on her shoulder.

His face flitted through her memory. His bright hair, dark eyes, and noble stance.

The officer stayed with the gypsy girl while she cried. She screamed to the heavens, to anyone listening.

For the woman, this was not possible. Her bright love could not be dead. She half expected him to walk through the front door, dinner in hand.

Eventually the soldier had to leave. The woman continued to cry. As she cried she made her way to the most magnificent church in all of Paris, where her best friend resided.

Her blond son walked by her side. All the way to Notre Dame. On the steps he called to the bell ringer.
"Zephyr," exclaimed the ringer. "What happened."

"They say Phoebus is dead, Quasi. But he can't be," the raven haired widow said to her red haired, hunched back, best friend.
Quasimodo fill on his knees beside her and wept. Zephyr kicked at candles and tables in his grief.

"Zephyr," called Quasi from his tears. "You have to be strong for your mother. She needs you."
Zephyr looked at his mother, crying on the floor for he who could not return to us.
Zephyr nodded to Quasimodo. "I know. I will-"
"Don't say it," Esmeralda said, barely audible.

Zephyr knelt by his mother. "I wasn't going to. I was going to say that I will be with you always."
The family and friends of the lost soldier cried for him through the night.
