Kissing You Goodbye

Lauren glanced out of the window at the sound of the engine, a strand of fine blonde hair falling across her face.

Immediately her heart sunk. It was just a plain white minibus but even from here she could see the men cramped inside, dressed in fatigues, wearing their 'lids'.

Her eyes darted over to Logan. He had stood up as the minibus drew up and was now shouldering his canvas rucksack, placing his dog tags around his neck.

Lauren blinked back a film of tears and swept over to him, placing her arms around his muscular shoulders.

"Hey. Come on babe, it's going to be okay. I promise." Logan whispered, attempting to reassure her. His voice carried a chord of sadness that she wasn't used to hearing.

"But what if it isn't okay Logan. I can't lose you." Lauren had been trying to hold back her tears but now they streamed freely down her face, leaving salty tracks down her pale face.

"You won't. I swear. I'll be back before you know it. Back for good." Logan was holding her closer now, allowing her head to rest on his chest. "I'll be here for the both of you."

Lauren bit back a sob and drew away from him, placing a gentle hand on her pregnant stomach. Logan offered her a smile. She could see the tears shinning in his eyes.

The moment was broken as there came a sharp rap at the door.

They both looked out into the hallway and for a long moment there was silence.

"I love you Lauren." The words were soft and tender, full of feeling. She knew he meant them.

"I love you too," she whispered back, fresh tears welling in her eyes.

He moved forward and kissed her softly. She never wanted it to end. But then he pulled away.

He took a deep breath, pulling himself together and then walked out into the hallway. Lauren followed him and stood behind him as he opened the door.

"Mr. Knighted?" A voice asked as soon as the door was open.

"Yes." Logan replied and then he glanced back at Lauren. I love you, the three words were etched in his deep grey eyes.

She mouthed them back and then he was gone, marching down the front garden path. She watched as he stepped into the minibus.

She watched as the door banged shut behind her husband and the father of her unborn baby.

Wolf glanced around the minibus, taking in all the faces that surrounded him, searching out the familiar faces of his teammates.

"Wolf, you asshole! We're back here!" A voice called out from the back and he arranged his features into a glower and stamped to the back of the bus where his teammates had claimed the four seats at the very back of the minibus.

Without speaking, he stashed his bag underneath a seat and then slumped down beside Snake.

He stared out of the window, to where Lauren was stood, watching the bus from the porch.

A heavy feeling of lose and sadness welled inside him.

"Whose that? New girlfriend?" Eagle asked scathingly from behind him.

"Piss off." Wolf answered, tearing his gaze away from Lauren, her hand still placed protectively over her swollen belly.

But he couldn't help but look back as the minibus pulled away. Away from his wife and the mother of his unborn child.

I'm not sure where this came from but I had to write it down. Hope you liked. Please tell me what you think! Crystal X
