The red and black fox watched the brown haired girl sobbing into her fluffy white pillow.

He had no idea why she was so sad. His brother and sisters all told him about Daddy. He never meat him but they said once uncle had defeated Daddy he had a crisis of faith and left Mommy behind. It broke Mommy's heart but he left her a gift. Him.

He sat there and though about Mommy and decided what he thought was best and went to the internet. They had told him Daddy's name once and there was a really bad fire wall on the police database.

He watched Mommy's reflection as she turned and cried out his name. "N." It broke his heart hearing Mommy in so much pain. During the day she acted so strong and at night when no one else was around...he wanted her to be happy.

He nearly giggled when he found the picture and focused so hard on getting this right. It was a matter of life and death. He couldn't laugh or he'd give the game away.

Pushing back he walked over to Mommy's bed and gentle shook her. Blue eyes opened slowly. They looked at him disbelief. "N?"

He nodded and tried so hard not to freak out. He just wanted her to be happy.

She shifted so she was sitting up. Her chocolate brown hair cascaded around her face and down her back as she placed her hand on his cheek. "Is this real?"

He lent forwards and placed his forehead against hers.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and cried. He pushed her backwards and cuddled up to her. He wanted her to stop crying it was just too much.

"Why did you go?" She sobbed whole heartedly into the top. She hiccupped and clutched so hard that he let out a nervous laugh.

The room went quiet and he prayed she hadn't heard. The wait was too terrifying but he couldn't look at her in case she was still trying to figure it out.

Arms hugged him tighter causing him to almost suffocate. He breathed a sigh of relief when she loosened her hold and relaxed against him.

He relaxed next to her and started to drift off to sleep when she grabbed him unconcealed tail and pulled. An involuntary giggle escaped and the fox him sat on her bed looking at her in pure shock and fear.

She gave him a very weak smile. "Thank you Harmony."

He flicked his ear in confusion. Why was she thanking him?

She picked him up and cuddled him and wrapping the quilt around them.

He drifted off to sleep but not before he heard her start to cry again.
