.:Namira:.
Most Pokemon trainers say that their happiest day is when they win their first badge or when they win their first Pokemon battle. For me the happiest day of my life was when I got my first Pokemon. Actually, it was the day I got my first two Pokemon. You see my father's a famous Pokemon trainer, almost everyone's heard about him, and he thinks that it's his job to get me my first Pokemon. My only thought was Silly father. He's kind enough, even though he insists that I know all of his tricks on being the best.
Anyways, it was my 13th birthday, that's how old you have to be to start training in my region. I practically ran out of the house to get to the Pokemon center on time. Professor Floyd was waiting for me outside with a pocket watch in his hand, he was old fashioned that way. He looked up at me, "You're late, Namira."
"No way," I shouted even though I was still trying to catch my breath. "I left an hour before our appointment and almost got run over five times trying to get here on my bike. There's no way I'm late!"
"Then why does my watch say you're half an hour late," he asked looking back at his watch.
"Probably because your watch stopped working a year ago," I suggested.
He rubbed his chin, "Did it?" I nodded and stood up as straight as I could. He shrugged, "Oh well, then I guess you're either on time or early. Either way, let's get you a Pokemon shall we?" I followed him inside eagerly, I'd been waiting for a Pokemon of my own since before I could talk.
Professor Floyd led me to, what I like to call, the selection area. He directed me toward a backpack that had several of my custom-made Pokeballs and a Pokedex, also custom-made. It was so exciting, even if I was walking around dressed up so that I looked like on of the regular Pokeballs. There were just somethings that wouldn't change.
"And now for your very own Pokemon, a perfect birthday present if you ask me," he smiled at me. With my father always going off to train his Pokemon and battle other trainers, Professor Floyd had become a father figure to me while I grew up. He directed me to a table and whistled. Several different types of Pokemon came out of every corner of the room, Floyd didn't like to keep them in Pokeballs when they didn't have trainers, and hopped onto the table. "Now remember, Namira, when you find the perfect starter Pokemon you'll know it."
"I know, Professor," I replied. Slowly going up the table. There was a Charmander, a Squirtle, a Rattata, and a dozen others, but none of them felt quite... right. That is until I came to the end, a small Eevee sat there. She was so precious and when I looked at her something just clicked and I knew that she was going to be my first Pokemon. I picked her up and held her close, she somehow managed to crawl up my arm and perch on my shoulder.
Floyd laughed, "I see you found her." I nodded as Eevee rubbed her head against my own. I gently set Eevee on the ground where she gave me a sad look, "It's only for a minute, I promise." She sighed as I grabbed one of my Pokeballs that was entirely blue except for a ring of white around the center button. I tossed it onto the ground where it promptly opened, absorbed Eevee, and shut again. She didn't put up any resistance. My Pokedex beeped as it collected data from the capture, was it really a capture or a catch if there was no resistance?
I picked up the Pokeball and pressed the button, I wanted Eevee out when I showed my mom and dad. She began bouncing around as soon as she was out and leaped right into my arms making me and the Professor laugh. "Thank you, Professor Floyd."
"No problem," he replied, "just remember to feed her, train her, and... oh you already know all this stuff."
I smiled, "My father will probably quiz me when he gets home." We exited the building with the other Pokemon starting to play with each other, soooo cute by the way, and I placed Eevee in my bicycle basket and hopped on. "Goodbye, Professor, thank you for everything."
He waved bye as I started to ride off. Eevee seemed excited as we rode, the wind flapping my red and white vest and red tank top over a black top. Her brown ears flattening on her head as we went to my home. I slowed down as we neared my block, I wasn't quite sure how my parents would react to me getting her. Father would probably have hoped I got a fire type because his first Pokemon was a fire type, but mother was a bit unpredictable. She'd either completely support me, tell me I was foolish, or she'd do a little of both, I could never tell.
I let Eevee climb onto my shoulder as I set my bike against the house and took a deep breath. She rubbed her head against mine as I pushed open the door, "Mom, I'm home from my appointment to Professor Floyd."
"Oh my gosh, you already went," mom replied as I shut the door.
"Um, yeah," I said setting Eevee down on the floor, "and I got a Pokemon."
There was a sighing sound and mom came out of the kitchen, "Sweetheart, your father will be here soon and he got you a Pokemon for your first." All I could do was look at my mom in surprise. Most people say I have my mother's purple eyes, but if you really looked her eyes were a light violet that seemed more pink if you looked at her in a certain light while mine were an amethyst color that turned sapphire blue at night.
I blinked, "Oh no, I had no idea, dad's going to kill me."
Mom looked down at Eevee, "What if we put your cute new Pokemon in her Pokeball and told your father that you only went to Professor Floyd for your Pokeballs and Pokedex?"
"I couldn't lie to dad like that," I ran my hand through part of my long hair. "We have to tell him."
Mom nodded, "You're right and I'll bet he'll be so proud of you."
"Who'll proud of our young Pokemon trainer," dad's voice said from behind me. Eevee squeaked in surprise as I turned to face him. How long had he been standing there?
Dad looked down at Eevee, "Oh, you already got one." I couldn't think of anything to say so I began to stammer until he held up a hand. "It's alright, Namira, I understand. I know I'm not always here for you, your mother can testify that I'm much better with Pokemon than with people, but I want you to know that I'll always be here for you and so I got you a Pokemon so you can start your dream." He shifted on his feet as he spoke which looked kind of strange since he was so tall that he had to bend down to get through most doorways.
I smiled at him as he handed me a Pokeball much like my own. Eevee gave another squeak, but one of excitement, as I tossed the Pokeball onto the ground where it opened and the Pokemon exited. I could hardly speak as I looked at the small creature that looked back at me with bright green eyes. "I wanted you to have a fire type to start you off and I remembered that you liked the furry Pokemon and so I got you a Vulpix."
Next thing I knew I was squealing and holding both Eevee and Vulpix to my chest in happiness. Professor Floyd and my dad were the coolest people on the earth at that moment. Both my parents laughed as I hugged the two and my heart felt like it was about to burst with joy. Like I said, it was the happiest day of my life. Eventually I let the two go and hooked their Pokeballs to the inside of my vest while they began running around playing. I hugged my parents and then we sat down to eat dinner.
The next day I would be leaving to start my very own journey, but I was going to have one last dinner with my family and enjoy being a regular girl for one more moment. That is until we noticed a burning smell. We turned toward the living room where it looked like Vulpix had decided to cheat while wrestling with Eevee. To make a long story short, we put out the fire on the couch while dad was laughing his head off. At first I didn't see what was so funny and I'm sure mom didn't either, but that's what I get for having a Pokemon trainer as a dad. Oh well, take what you can get.
After a few minutes of searching for the two Pokemon, we put them in their Pokeballs and went to bed. A typical night in our house.
Hey guys, this is my first Pokemon fanfic and I'm afraid I don't know much about the show, but my brother and godbrother have got it stuck in my head so I had to write my thoughts down. If you have any tips please let me know since I haven't done a fanfic recently. Anyways thanks for reading and I promise that next chapter will be longer.
