He paused as soon as he was on deck. He would've been more impressed with the flying ship if he hadn't lived aboard the Argo II for a while. Instead it just irritated him that he had to fly up there, and he was already annoyed with this little quest.
He was the one to point out that the boy with the flaming hand in one of the other camper's magazines could be a demigod, so that was one of the reasons he was picked to bring them to Camp Half-Blood. Another reason Chiron had named was that these kids might not be as friendly to a satyr as they would be to a boy their age. The centaur's reasoning for this was that they had fought snake-like humanoids in the past, and he didn't know the teenagers' personalities to be sure they'd react nonviolently to something who only looked part-human.
It wasn't like Jason hated the quest itself; he had a date with Piper later, and if the newly-discovered demigods argued with him too much over this there was a good chance he'd be late or even miss it altogether. He'd already wasted time marveling at all the advanced technology in Ninjago City, the technology that Leo or maybe Annabeth would've admired more than he could.
And then there was the matter of determining which ones were half-bloods. Along with the spiky-haired one who's hand had been ignited, there were four others in the picture captioned Ninjago's Heroes, and Jason was told only three total were demigods.
Fortunately Leo had come up with the idea of writing the Greek for hello on paper, since all Greek demigods naturally have the ability to read the ancient language. Then again, knowing Leo, he might've written something else since, as a Roman demigod, Jason couldn't read Greek very well.
He knocked on the door. It didn't take long before one of the teenagers from the magazine opened it slightly. Dark hair and dark eyes, like a child of Hades would have. Jason made himself clear his head of the thought, this guy's parent would have to claim him as soon as they got to camp, so stop trying to figure it out. And there's the possibility he may not even be one of the half-bloods.
"Who are you?"
"Jason Grace."
"Should I recognize that name or are you just a fan?"
Okay, this might take more time than he thought. Sorry, Piper. "No, I'm not a fan. I'm here because-"
An owl hooted somewhere inside and another voice shouted, "Cole, tell whoever's at the door to make it quick! The owl had a letter for Lloyd and you've gotta see what it says!"
"Is it anything important, or can you come back another time?" Cole said to the blonde.
"It's pretty important. I get you're busy, but could you please let me-"
"Cole!" the voice interrupted again.
"A letter can't be that amazing, Jay! Did Lloyd get an award or something?"
"No, it says he's a wizard! And wizards definitely count as amazing!"
The lightning ninja was right; a wizard as well as a few half-bloods made the ship seem way more interesting (to Jason at least).
[A/n: I would've added more to the chapter, but I wanted to see if anyone liked the idea, you know? Also, don't shoot me if Jason was too OOC!]
