Agnes: Let's Begin.

1. Yamato Nadeshikos and other "traditional" moe character types are the Distaff Counterpart version of the above, being liked in Japan (though still not as much astsunderes) but not so much in the West; Westerners tend to find them boring and, in some cases, sexist for promoting women being submissive and obedient. The Moe criticism from the West gets worse when the Token Mini-Moe trope is applied on females (due to pseudo-lolicon and pedophilia implications). Because of this,Moe anime or any anime with lolis are less likely to get dubs.

2. Jewelpet has a hard time getting licensed for the USA due to its similarities to Webkinz. That child-oriented Magical Girl shows are a hard sell in the American market these days probably also plays a factor.

However, Some American Sanrio stores are now selling some merchandise. Characters also show up in the NDS crossover game Loving Life with Hello Kitty & Friends.

3. Post-1992 Magical girl series tend be called a "Sailor Moon Ripoff.

4. Shirahoshi is more annoying from One Piece than Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid.

The Jewelpet anime and the toys were not released in the States due to similarity issues with Webkinz; both Sanrio and Sega could get sued for it.note And even if that problem didn't exist, America wouldn't even think of licensing child-oriented, Magical Girl shows. But it's released in much of Europe and Asia.

And even then some parts of Asia aren't getting it- you'll be hard-pressed to find Jewel Pet anything in Malaysia (with the exception Ruby water bottles from Borders), short of visiting the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town theme park in South Malaysia, near the Singapore border, and even then the selections are very limited. Even the Sanrio Gift Gate stores that are springing up in malls around the country are lacking Jewel Pet merch. Comparatively Jewel Pet stuff are abundant in Singapore and Thailand, Malaysia's immediate neighbors. This is very strange as Malaysian TV stations typically has no qualms in airingMagical Girl TV shows.

The Sunshine dubs are based strictly on the Japanese home video release, which means that any insert songs are removed, as having them remain would mean additional royalties would have to be paid to the parties involved. Somewhat compensating this is the fact that some of the scenes with insert songs are available in Youtube and Nico Nico.

The toys made it to Brazil. The same can't be said of the anime.

France so far hasn't moved past Twinkle.

6. Sailor Moon and Sailor Mini Moon are even more annoying than Cure Twinkle from Go! Princess Precure!

7. Many American boy audience may think "Moe Anime are usually way too girly".

8. "Moe Anime" or "Loli-theme Anime" are unintentionally American girls and women to be Sexist.

9. "Girly Anime" are aimed exclusively at a female audience, like Precure, which never officially came to America at all.

10. "Moe anime", like Jewelpet feel too similar to "Webkinz" in America.

11. USA would rather license a Gender-diverse Anime, like Pokemon, Bakugan, Beyblade, and Digimon.

12. There are different cultural factors on how a woman or a girl should look outside of Japan.

13. I think a lot of it has to deal with it being aimed exclusively at a female audience. US companies would rather license a property that would be popular with both males and females (e.g., a 'boy' show, or a gender-ambigious one) than one that will be primarily attract one group.

I don't quite understand why this is so, as shows such as Pretty Cure are ridiculously popular with female audiences abroad as to make up for a lack of male audience. The same goes for WinX, which was actually licensed in America for awhile by 4Kids. When I was in Europe recently, there were everything from WinX published-monthly fan magazines with furoku to WinX dog beds and collars to WinX ice cream to a plethora of super girly-girl toys. And yet the license was still canceled in the US.

So honestly, I really haven't the slightest.

14. Yeah, it has a lot to do with gender roles, and what is seen in society as appropriate for males and appropriate for females; if we believed that typically 'girly' shows were appropriate for both genders, this would be less of a problem.

15. Just like "Yuri Anime" are less likely to get American dubs, like the Japan-exclusive PS2 video game, "Aoishiro" , because The respective Japanese video game creators don't really like offending actual "Girl-on-Girl" relationships abroad.

16. "Moe Anime" criticism gets worser in the West when "Token Mini Moe" gets applied to Females, because to pseudo-lolicon and pedophilia implications.

17. The imouto (translation: "little sister") genre of anime/manga/light novels, etc. is well liked in Japan, but in the West it's seen as the low point of otaku pandering, and admitting you're a fan is considered among some segments of the fandom as equivalent to calling yourself a pedophile (or at least a creep).

18. USA is a more of a diversive country than Japan.

19. "Rainbow-Palette Wigs" are more popular in East Asia than The USA!

20. "Pink" color is usually considered a symbol of "Moe".
