Author's Note: This is another little present for my sister, the ray ray (go click on the link in my profile; she's funny!); a tiny little addition to her "John Sheppar'd How-To" series. Shh, it's a surprise! :D lol

By the way, it's not nearly as easy to play the guitar as I wrote... it took me MONTHS to learn to strum properly; only now (after over a year) can you call what I do halfway decent... anyways, onto the story; just ignore my babbling ;).

John Sheppard's How To Play Guitar 101

------------

"That sounds beautiful." John looked up from playing his guitar to see Teyla standing in his doorway, listening to him.

"Thanks," he said.

"What is it?"

"It's called a guitar; it's my personal favorite instrument," he paused. "Do you want me to teach you how to play?" she shook her head uncertainly.

"No, it is alright..."

"It's no problem, really; it's not that hard. Come here." Hesitantly, Teyla obeyed, and John scooted over to let her sit beside him of the bed. He handed her the guitar and instructed her how to hold it. Once she had found a comfortable position, he showed her how to place her fingers, explaining the numbering of the strings.

"They're numbered one through six, from the smallest one to the biggest," he said. "Now, if you want to play a "D" chord, you put your first finger--- that's this one," he held up his pointer finger, "and you put it on the third string. Your second finger goes on the first string," he reached around to help her. "That's right. And you're third finger goes on the second string... good!" Teyla glanced up at him, and asked what to do next.

"Oh, right! Well, with the pick," he handed her the little plasic chip, which she observed skeptically. "Well, you hold the pick like that, and then you run it down the first four strings--- the bottem ones." She obeyed, and smiled when a slightly shaky chord came out.

"See?" Sheppard said approvingly. "Not so hard."

"No," she said. "It is not."

Three hours later, Rodney and Ronon came looking for them, to see if they wanted to have another round of laser tag (their game of choice lately). They found them in Sheppard's room, John playing a song on the guitar that Rodney recognized as one that he and Ronon had caught him writing several weeks ago--- for Teyla.

"Hey," he began. "Isn't that the song that you were writing for-" Ronon dragged him out. Those two deserved some time alone.

Fin.

A/N: It's admittedly less funny than the rest of her series, but I asked her what kind of "How-To" she wanted for a present, and she said "How To Play Guitar". And this was what popped into my head. There is a little shout out to her story "John Sheppard's How To Play Laser Tag 101", though; and I know that she'd really appreciate it if you would go and read it ;).
