"Kurama…"

The fox stilled. There was something about that voice, something about the way Naruto said it that made the fox nervous. It was too lonesome, too defeated, it was unlike Naruto.

"Kurama… I, I am not needed in this era. I have bought peace, and I have killed all those that want to destroy my home, but if I want them to truly be at peace, then I cannot be here."

Eyes widening, Kurama roared. "What do you mean you are not needed?! Konoha would perish without you! This fragile peace, you are the foundation? Naruto!" Desperate to make the blond understand, Kurama trashed against his partner's mindscape, anything to make Naruto understand.

However, it seemed as though the blond didn't even want to listen. Kurama could see it, he could see it taut line of the Hokage's shoulders, in the hard lines of his face. Weight of the village indeed.

Naruto then turned and gave Kurama the most bittersweet smile the fox had ever seen. "I am a symbol of power. Everyone will always know that. Everyone will always be wary of my movement. In times where the Leaf will be attacked, I cannot lift a hand to defend them, because I am Uzumaki Naruto. The Hero of the Ninja War."

Kurama laughed bitterly, "So you… You're not thinking of peace at all. You're thinking about your precious leaf again, Naruto!"

The ninja did not reply, but just kept talking. "My children will see to peace, and so will my comrades. They will uphold my nindo, my will. They will inherit the will of fire."

"You're just running away! How would the others think of it? Seeing that the human they so admire is a coward who can't handle responsibi-"

"I AM LONELY KURAMA! SO LONELY… It shames me so, this feeling inside of me. I am the child of prophecy, the one who wished for peace, but how come… How come I crave the battleground? I don't deserve to be a hero. No. Not anymore."

The fox stilled. He never suspected, he never thought that Naruto could have some feelings like that. He was happy by the way things were, but what use was his happiness, when his container was longing for battle so?

Naruto stood at the edge of the cliff and smiled. "Neh, Kurama, do you remember this cliff? This is the cliff where we first formally met."

"Naruto…"

"I know it's selfish, but… I wish, I wish in my next life, I could live in war, you see, that's me. War made Uzumaki Naruto, without it, I would be no one. Ne, would you still be there in my next life?"

"Think about the Hatake! Think about him, weren't you happy just being by his side?"

The blond merely smiled. "Yes, he… He is my very soul. He is Uzumaki Naruto's soul, but he does not see me like I do, but I should for that. It's not to good to be greedy after all."

"Naruto, don't jump.

"See you again Kurama."
