A tear slid down Lily's cheek. She felt so stupid for thinking that James' ego had deflated to the extent that he could actually give a shit about anyone other than himself.
The emotion that motivated her next action was not love, but anger. Lily wanted vengeance; she wanted to hurt James so that maybe, he'd be hurt as much as she had been.
Her feet carried her, almost unconsciously, to that secluded corner of the library where she knew he'd be.
"Don't say a word." She whispered sharply into his ear after creeping up silently behind him.
He spun to face her, shock written plainly over his pallid features. In his cold, black eyes was what she needed: love. She laid a finger on his lips to silence his impending questions; it had been almost two years since they had last spoken.
Here was a boy that was truly, madly and deeply in love with her.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, before her rosebud lips replaced her finger upon his lips.
At first, he seemed stunned, unwilling to kiss back for fear it was some cruel trick of Potter's, or else some cruel trick of his imagination. He could hold out no longer. His love and burning desire consumed every inch of his being.
That first kiss was of a harsh, rough lust; the kisses that followed were soft, sweet, filled only with his love for her.
Lily's beautiful eyes stayed shut every second that they stayed locked in that comforting embrace.
Severus felt his heart sing as their bodies entwined as tightly and closely as possible, as he tried to convey with every tough, every kiss, every sigh, how deeply he loved her.
To Lily, this wasn't about love, or lust; it was about anger, vengeance and need. She needed to be kissed, touched, made love to by someone who truly loved her. The whole time, her eyes remained locked shut.
It wasn't until they broke apart that they realised: she was crying.
Without a word, she fled, leaving Severus to dwell on the fact that she didn't love him and never would. Despite the fact that Severus would always love Lily, Lily would always love James Potter.
