"This car smells." Gabriella wrinkled her nose. "UGH when will we get there?" She opened her book and tried to concentrate on the words. After a couple minutes, she gave up. "It's SO hot in here!"

Sharpay sighed. "Gaby, will you stop complaining? She turned up the radio and slouched lower in the driver seat as she turned into the exit towards Montana. They were attending a funeral of Sharpay's Grandmother's friend's son, and she decided to bring a couple friends to make the trip easier.

Taylor shut her laptop very suddenly and loudly. "Damn! My battery died! Now what do I do?" she asked with a sigh.

Sharpay turned the radio off. "Let's just talk!"

"About what?" Gaby asked, spinning her ring on the cup holder.

"I don't know."

"There's nothing to talk about!"

"Ew, Ryan is snoring!"

"Make him stop, it's annoying!"

"Come on, guys, this isn't that bad!"

"Easy for you to say, you're driving."

Sharpay looked at them through the mirror. "Ohh, you wanna drive?" she asked hopefully. "I'm really tired. I'll pull over."

"Ew, no, I don't wanna drive." Taylor said.

Sharpay sighed and returned her thoughts to the road. As the sky got darker, the girls (and Ryan) slowly fell asleep. Sharpay needed sleep, but she had to be in Montana on time.

Taylor woke up with her head hitting the window as the car jerked a sharp turn.

"CRAP, ow!" She looked up to see Sharpay asleep at the wheel, the car now spinning out of control as Sharpay drifted from side to side, the wheel with her.

"SHARPAY!"

The next thing she knew, she heard the screech of tires and she was slammed into the window as their car collided with a large truck next to them. Everything was dark, whirling, and scary. Then everything was quiet and still.

Taylor sat up. "Gabriella? Sharpay? Ryan?" Ryan sat up and looked around, clearly confused. Gaby moaned and opened her eyes. Sharpay was still asleep.

When the four were safely out of the car, and the police had been contacted, they all sat on the grass beside the highway and waited for the police to arrive. Taylor was crying.

"I'm so sorry. I should've driven. You even told me you were tired!"

"Don't worry, we're all fine. It's not your fault."

The four looked at the car tat now looked like a crushed-up piece of paper. They thought how lucky they were to be safe, and they all still had each other. When the police came, and the whole mess was straitened up, they rented an enterprise car and hit the road again, this time with Taylor and Gaby driving. No one complained the rest of the drive.
