I received your letter...
And it hurts, Doumeki.
Everything hurts - my mind, my body, my heart.
Especially my heart.
I miss you terribly. I love you just as much.
I really didn't do it on purpose.
As you know already, Yuuko had foreseen my death.
But I didn't exactly believe her so I didn't tell you.
I didn't want you involved, too.
It doesn't matter what you vowed yourself to do...
What comes around, comes around.
And it's impossible to know what karma has in line for you.
I knew of the connection between us before we even met.
I always felt a string trying to pull me somewhere everyday.
And I always knew that it led to someone important,
Someone I would come to love, to care for,... and die for.
But true; I didn't need to die for you.
You always seemed to be able to protect both of us in times of trouble.
However, you were always the one getting hurt.
I was just a burden to everything you did.
That's why I tried to make up to it with cooking.
(Though I never exactly made it seem like that...)
I'm glad there's such things as the water cycle,
Because even if your tears fall to the ground,
They will reach even up here to me.
And I'm lucky enough to be able to have something of you
(Even though it disappears often)
While I sit here waiting...
Until we meet again.

Watanuki placed his letter in a forming rain cloud and let the ink be washed away with the water. Then, he picked it back up and looked at it. It was damp and blank. He sighed, but then he smiled. It's the thought that counts. It doesn't matter if he never gets it. I'll just keep sending him my love.
So here's to you, Doumeki: Lots of love.
