"What do I wish to achieve?" Seemed to be the only thing troubling L as he sat on his chair in the fetal-like position that he claims raises his powers of perception, thinking. "If I do indeed catch Kira the crime rate will surely rise by 37% within the first year of his loss. Would catching Kira actually help anybody apart from the criminals that the world would do better off without? The criminals that I myself would eventually have sentenced to capital punishment? Is Kira actually doing the right thing? It is true that Japans' crime rate has dropped considerably; maybe Kira really is creating a 'perfect world'... No. Living in fear of a vigilante supernatural being is not a perfect world in my eyes, not in anyone's eyes. Kara is just a murderer with a God-complex, he is no better than a common criminal... Just a lot more dangerous I guess."
"Ryuzaki, do you still suspect me of being Kira?" Light asked in his usual, formal manner with L.
L stared blankly into Lights' poised eyes as he fell into deep thought again. "Light... Heh, it's almost funny. To think that I've found someone I would be able to call a friend and he's my main suspect. He could be the impossible entity I'm trying to catch and in turn I could be the nameless detective he's trying to kill off out the way. Yet here we are working together to catch 'Kira'."
"Erm; Ryuzaki, are you okay? You seem a little, distracted today..." Lights' voice asked softer but his focused eyes remained the same. L snapped out of his trance-like state back to reality in which Light was awaiting an answer. "There is now a 5% chance you are Kira" he said in his usual, mono-tone manner of speaking with everybody. Light was shook, but then regained posture, "Was that evaluation based on my asking of the question, Ryuzaki?"
"Yes."
"Even so is that percentage enough to consider me a suspect?"
"Yes."
"Well I'll prove to you that I'm not Kira."
"Don't worry about that Light I'll be the one proving who Kira is."
The irritated Light went back to his laptop and continued his work. Coincidently L went back into his contemplative world yet again.
"What you don't know is I am actually 76% sure you're Kira, I suppose I just like annoying you Light, although provoking you into showing your true colours isn't a bad idea either. I'm almost certain he's Kira... I feel the answer will be revealed soon, the bells are getting louder."
L decided he'd had enough of personal thought and proceeded to join Light, working on the case.
