Lucky
The sound of morning birds chirped as the Doctor woke up to the bright morning, wrapped in soft sheets of the bed. Below him, the figure of Rose was sound asleep. Slowly getting up from the mattress, the Time Lord turned to glance at his significant other and smiled.
Rose seemed so peaceful and gentle when she wasn't awake. Someone could underestimate her at her size and race. Even if she was an ape like the rest of them, her full power was a might no one would want to side with an opposing enemy.
She never once doubted him during their time together. Instead of backing down, especially while they were facing the Slitheen, she didn't grew scared and left his side. The odds of failing and getting her killed was high, and he didn't want her innocent life to die because of him. Yet, she bravely stood her ground and stood by him, no matter how grim things were.
If the Doctor hadn't met Rose, he'd doubt he be half the man he was. Rose saved him from himself, saved him from the driving point of being ruthless and cold. Black-hearted and bitter, he'd doubt he'd be the same person he was before losing his people, but with Rose...It was like those scars weren't as painful anymore.
He could finally breathe and live after years and years of carrying the guilt of the Time Lords with him for so long. She pulled him out of his darkest pit, and broke down walls he thought were impossible to breach. She freed him from so much... Repaying her was going to be a tough decision on what he was going to give her, but she seemed to enjoy being with him and the daily adventures and travels they made through time and space.
On the day that they will have to depart and won't see each other again... he hope that day will come in the far, far future. For now, he had to take in the moment before it was over, before it died...
He reached down and felt his hand touch her cheek, face motionless and soft. Her eyelids began to slowly open, and his hand shifted from the motion of her head.
"Whu, wussat- Doctor, is something wrong?"
"No, sorry, everything's fine," chuckled the Time Lord, feeling her cheek one last time before his hand was off her precious skin.
He pulled a golden lock of her hair behind her ear, looking into her dark, sleepy, beautiful eyes...
Oh, yes.
He was shamelessly in love.
"It's just... I'm really lucky that I have you around."
Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again...
Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday...
