My first Voyager fic, so be nice. Prompted by an insulting joke I saw and loved instantly.

Kathryn gets a little peeved at an insufferably annoying alien.

Captain Kathryn Janeway sighed and bowed her head in annoyance. There had to be a way to deal with the rather obnoxious alien on her viewscreen.

"Is there a particular reason why we can't cross this very small corridor of space?"

"If it's so small why don't you just go around it?" The alien answered with a smug little smirk she just wanted to slap off.

"Because while you space would not take very long to cross, it would take considerably longer to detour all the way around it." The coffee-deprived captain answered as calmly as she was able to. "So, may we cross your space?" She was sick of asking this question. Stupid protocols.

"Ahhh…" The annoyingly juvenile alien considered loudly. "No." He smiled as if it was a game.

"Why not!" She practically exploded with exasperation.

"Oh, you wouldn't understand…" As he said this he reminded the bridge-crew and especially Kathryn of Q. She looked down at the toe of her boot to compose herself.

When she glanced up she had a look of confidence mixed with something else. Her fist officer recognised the 'something else' just as he realised that she was fiddling with her com-badge.

'She's going to shoot him and force our way through.' Chakotay mentally groaned. She pressed a few buttons on the consol between the seats then held her finger above the consol as she looked up to see the alien that had been pissing them off for the last hour.

"I've tried to see your point of view but I just can't seem to get my head that far up my ass!" And with that she tapped the consol and the alien ship exploded into noting but a debris field.

"Mr Paris, maximum warp." She clipped as she stood up.

"Yes, ma'am."

She smiled as she walked to her ready room. "I need coffee."

"Kathryn?" Chakotay gently nudged her arm. She looked up with a look of confusion. She was still on the bridge and that irritating alien's stupid little head was still on her viewscreen.

"Damn." She muttered. She quickly muted her own transmission for a moment to turn to Tuvok.

"Do we out-gun him?"

"That is affirmative, Captain." She un-muted it before turning to that arrogant little patak.

"Stand down or we will fire."

"Nope." He smirked, confident he would win.

"Target his propulsion systems then jump to high warp." Tom and Tuvok gave the Captain a nod before she ordered, "Fire!"

Once they had safely crossed the other side of the alien's space and had made sure they weren't being pursued Chakotay turned to the Captain.

"You really wanted to blow him up, didn't you?"

"You have no idea." She rolled her eyes with a sigh. "You have the bridge; I need coffee." Chakotay chuckled as he told Paris to set a course.

Just another day in the Delta Quadrant.
