"why?" it was the only thing her incoherant mind could utter, her voice shaky and raw, mixed with indescrible saddness and eager curiosity. "because i love you." his words sincere and swift without any hesitation. she withdrew her hands from him letting them mindlessly fall to her sides as she processed his words. they continued to echo through her mind as she stared blankly at the figure in front of her. his usual smouldering amber eyes shrouded with sorrow, his face perfectly reflecting his feelings. her heart felt like it was shattering letting his words relunctantly sink in,
her gaze finally unlocked from his staring at her feet she could hear her unstable breathing more clearly.

she knew he had begun to walk away from her, she hasitly glanced up, watching his slumped form as it quickly dissapeared into the distance. she could feel hot tears of confusion and frustration brimming in her eyes and she didnt restrain them. falling harshly to the ground her knees colliding painfully'with the sterdy earth beneath her, her hands palming the ground in front of her. clenching her eyes tightly shut squeezing out more freash tears, "why?" she silently whispered thinking the wind might deliever her word to him so he could answer it. all of her ideals along with her faith in love started to fleet her, how could the words she longed so much to her could create the reverse affect on her?
perfect love was only left in a world full or fantasy and fiction she remined herself, were the cliche stories of majestic knights in shining armour bravely rescue the damsel in distress and fall sweetly in love to live happily ever after. this made the pain of reality that much harder, knowing that in some unreal world princesses and princes lived together in perfect harmony enjoying there love to the full extent.

she felt unfamliarly sick, like she was going to puke up all her previous beliefs on love. it was all so overwhelming. she finally realized then and there that she loved zuko. but it was too late.
