Note: there will be character death. The pairing is XigLux which is male-male although it is more of a friendship kind of thing. Semi-explicit but not very graphic which is why it will be rated T. Flames are welcomed if you review. I won't get any better if you don't R & R though.

Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts. No suing.

This had been their story for as long as either of them could remember. This complete anger at the other, thedetermination to win and become the sole being of existence in the fragile Universe. But despite this, they could never be truly apart since to acknowledge one would be to acknowledge the other. It was a bond forged in the very beginning of their co-existence, deemed by Fate to circle endlessly in strife and always be pushing against each other for dominance. Space accompanies the world, keeping thins together and humans on the ground. But to a school bound teenager on a Friday afternoon, Time is the greater of two evils, keeping the weekend at bay while ticking off the seconds on the wall.

The Blonde pushed off his adversary, growling as he summoned a new weapon. Blue eyes glared into deep gold as he strike at the other and the older man countereA slice at that pale face to end it failed to connect, brushed off like one would with a fly. They pulled apart and raced to get better orientation. He tilted his head, feeling a bullet brush by his ear. A card was sent as an answer, also missing its target and continuing the battle.

This was another routine fight, one that could be done in their sleep if they wanted to. Both of them were bored with throwing attacks at each other but missing, neither giving in till they dropped with exhaustion. Idly, the Brit recalled the words of a co-worker, commenting on how graceful the two of them were when they fought. "Like two dancers at a ball." The words bounced around in his head as he threw a slick card at the rifleman, feeling his element react as he pulled at the fabric of time to slow down the Free shooter a moment or two. Surprisingly, it landed a long over due blow and he smiled at the cry of surprise it brought. Being dead already, neither could feel pain or really bleed. They could die again but the thought was so preposterous that it never really occurred to them. The fighting grew angrier, faster paced as they abandoned the long established routine and just fought with everything they had. Space and Time was bent and stretched all around the two men, forced to obey their master's whims. Dust blew up, obscuring everything till they couldn't tell where the other was enough to shoot another blow. Luxord perked his ears, smiling as a bullet came out of the dust to whiz by and threw a card in the direction of the bullet's origin. But the result was not what he expected.

Space could only bend so far before it needed to bounce back. Xigbar had reached this limit, coming up just as the card flew towards him. It cut into his pale neck, releasing crimson and laying him flat on his back. This was what the gambler found when he rushed over at the lack of a response. He quickly knelt, stunned and trying to staunch the grievous wound but to no avail. Such a fickly creature, that Fate. You can never be sure of her next move, never guess who her next victim will be. Two men, a Gambler and a Gunner, bound in an eternal game of chase. Only one could win and Fate has chosen, leaving the survivor to mourn as she moved on to her next affair. The fight had ended and dawn has come, but bringing with it grief and anguish as Time held his long time companion and wept.
