The play has ended and the "Lord" Sly is not pleased. He demands a proper ending and the players comply.
Enter Sly, Lord and Page
Sly: Well… What happens next?
Lord: I am sorry, my lord, there is no more… that was the end.
Sly: What?
Lord: There us nothing more for the players to perform.
Page: Good husband, I am sure the players know more plays…
Sly: Yes! I am the Lord! I demand an ending!
Lord: Yes, my Lord, I will command the players.
ACT VI, ii
Lucentio and Bianca's marriage is no longer happy. They fight about the most trivial things, including what to eat. Bianca and Kate find that they have wasted their lives competing for their father's attention when they could have co-existed peacefully.
Enter Lucentio, Bianca, Grumio, Petruchio and Katherine
Lucentio: I want duck!
Bianca: But husband, I would prefer ham…
Lucentio: Duck! Duck!
Grumio: Goose!
Petruchio: If I may speak to solve this matter.
Lucentio: Go on.
Petruchio: Rather than argue would it not be better to compromise and have both?
Lucentio: Such an idea never occurred to me.
Kate: No, I am sure it did not.
Laughter
Servants enter with both duck and ham
Petruchio: See, it all works splendidly.
Bianca: I will not eat that duck!
Lucentio: It is better than ham! Putting ham on her plate
Bianca: I will NOT eat it!!! Picking it up and throwing it at Lucentio
Lucentio is too stunned for words
Kate: to Petruchio Who is the Shrew now?
Lucentio: Well, you can have your ham! Shoves ham at Bianca
Bianca: You have ruined my dress!
Kate: Of course, that is all you care about!
Bianca: You are just jealous of me!
Kate: Jealous of you? Jealous of you? What do you have that I should be jealous of?
Petruchio and an angry Lucentio exit
Bianca: I am beautiful!
Kate: You are beautiful? And what has that gotten you? A "happy" marriage?
Bianca begins to cry
Kate: Oh yes, go ahead and cry. That is just like you!
Bianca continues
Kate: Yes, making everyone feel sorry for you is your specialty!
Bianca: Why do you hate me so much?
Kate: You are weak, you rely solely on others, and you can do nothing for yourself!
Bianca: I have always wanted to be like you. To have as much attention as you did.
Kate: Why? You are father's favorite; he only wanted to be rid of me.
Bianca: Perhaps, but he always spent more time with you. I was the "quiet child" the "easy" one. He devoted more time and energy to your shrewish nature than he ever did to my quiet one.
Kate: You are making things up! You have always held his favor!
Bianca: Favor is not the matter we are discussing. And you must remember; attention is not always positive.
Kate becomes emotional
Bianca: Kate, I seek your advice.
Kate: My advice?
Bianca: What would you do in my place?
Kate: Are you really all that unhappy with Lucentio?
Bianca: I am.
Kate: Either endure, or do something about it.
Bianca: You would have me do this?
Kate: That is what I would do.
Bianca: But Kate, you have not applied the same principle to your own marriage. You have not done anything about Petruchio.
Kate: But do you not see? I am happy.
Bianca: How can that be so? Your husband is such a…
Kate: Shrew? Yes, I have met my match, and I am glad of that.
Bianca: You love him?
Kate: I do.
