Cas's ears perked up at the sound of the shower switching off. There were several more sounds of drawers opening and closing, things being moved around, feet shuffling on the tiled floor of the motel bathroom. Cas heard a low bang, along with a wince and a muttered, "Dammit." He chuckled quietly, curling up tighter under the heavy sheets and blankets.

After several minutes of this ordeal, the bathroom door swung open. Cas quickly shut his eyes and snuggled deep into the bed, pretending to be asleep. He heard the whines of the creaky wooden floor, and felt the sheets moving around as somebody slid into bed next to him, clearly trying not to disturb him.

There were several moments of silence.

"Cas." Right in his ear, almost startling the drowsy angel. Cas gently rolled over, looking his lover in the eyes. "Hello, Dean," he smiled fondly.

Dean grinned back as he intertwined their fingers. "Didja miss me?"

"Yes, Dean, the five minutes you spent showering nearly killed me," Castiel retorted sarcastically.

Dean smirked. "Well, I see you've learned how to understand sarcasm."

"So I did it right?" Castiel exclaimed happily.

"I guess. Don't make a habit out of it, though. Nobody likes a smart mouth."

"Aren't you a smart mouth?"

"Shut up, am not," argued Dean as he wrapped his arms around Cas, pulling him lazily against his chest.

"Are too," teased Cas, tracing circles along Dean's hand.

"Am not," growled the hunter, pressing a kiss to Castiel's neck.

The two lay there like that for a while, just enjoying the way the world seemed to melt away. Their bodies heated the small space around them. It was dark, warm, and peaceful, and most importantly, they had each other.

"Mmm..." muttered the angel. "I love you, you know."

"I love you, Cas," Dean whispered into Castiel's hair. "Go to sleep."

"I don't want to."

"Why, do you need a lullaby?" chuckled Dean. "I can do that for you."

"I would like that. Your voice can always relax me."

The golden-haired hunter smiled. "My mom used to always sing to me. It works, I promise."

Cas sank into the pillow, allowing Dean to hold him as close as possible. Dean relaxed as he began to quietly sing his angel to sleep.

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better.

Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better.
