I can't update Goodbeast until my co-author has finished a special short story. So, while I was waiting for him to do that, this idea came to mind, and I though I would post it up. Quick warning, while the locations mentioned are real, the facts about them may be a bit flawed. I don't know Cumberland like I used to . . .

So, enjoy!

From a House . . .

A young boy sleeps peacefully through the night, snug in his nice, warm bed. He has had a long day, working with his father and doing chores for his mother. As a result, his room is tidy, at least for now. The rest of the house, room to room, varies from well cleaned, to hurriedly swept through, to needing much work. Such is the norm. Day to day, the rooms that show one of these three attributes will switch to a different one, not all of the rooms ever having the same one at the same time.

The outside of the house isn't much better. Just a week ago, the family had their gutters replaced, and their roof cleared of debris from the last big storm. But the house still needs painting, its white hue slowly fading into gray.

The road they live on, with their farm land of corn, goes by the name of Boiling Springs, after the small town it leads into. If it could be called that. A tavern, a café, a fishing store, a lake, and a few other things, but mostly homes. A few historic sites make it a bit more attractive, and the people living there like it.

But most who live in the area would rather be at the nearby city of Carlisle. Every day it bustles with new activity, it's many stores, shops, restaurants, churches and homes, along with a few other attractions, make its large population grow daily.

And that's fine with the township it belongs to. Ever trying to fit more people in, they have built houses right up to the boarder line of the next township, a single road traveling between them.

Not that they are the only ones in Cumberland County. Being right above the lowest county in the state, with the Susquehanna bordering it on it's east side, there are many people who have to travel through to get from one end of PA to the other.

Of course, it is only one of many counties in Pennsylvania, each with it's own highlights and characteristics. Pennsylvania has many tourist attractions, both historical and present generation. For example, there is the famous Hershey's Chocolate Factory, which provides confections to the whole of the United States an beyond. From Maine in the east, to Alaska in the west, and everything in between on the North American continent.

Many other industries reside here as well, making commerce with the continents across the sea, hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles away. Some organizations see nothing in having a conversation with someone halfway around the Earth.

But what is the Earth? A planet in the Solar System, just another star of the Milky Way Galaxy, swirling around in the seemingly endless expanse of the Universe. But however it may seem, the Universe does have its limitations. It has its edge, across which no living man will ever go. For us, this is the limit. But not for everyone.

A sudden thunderstorm awakes the boy from his slumber. He sits up, and glances out his window. He is frightened, but he knows a remedy. He reaches to his bedside, where is kept a Book written by the One who lives beyond the edge of the Universe, for He created it.

It is the Bible, authored by the One, True God, Jehovah.

. . . to Beyond the Universe
