~This is just an idea I came up with. This fanfiction is based on the episode A Fraction of a Chance ( Episode 510) so I'd suggest watching that first because there will be spoilers and the fanfiction may be hard to understand.~
Motherboard's POV
It's a good thing being diplomatic comes easily to me, otherwise I would tell Wicked that she must be crazy if she thinks I would give her any fraction of Cyberspace; instead, I decided to simply tell her that I wouldn't and ended the meeting. Jackie drew my attention from the meeting by reminding me that it was time for her, Matt, and Inez to go home. I was thankful that they came in case Wicked tried anything, but the meeting was quite peaceful. I opened the portal and the children went though it after saying goodbye to Digit and I. At the time, I wasn't worried, as I know now that I should have been. Suddenly Wicked shot a beam of magic at me and it hit where the portals are controlled. I was more concerned at the childrens' safety over any damage that I may have sustained and instantly checked to ensure that they went though the portal alright- the result alarmed me; just then, Digit ran up to me and asked if I was alright. It took all my control to explain what happened in a calm voice; unfortunately I clonked out before I could finish my explanation, when I came to again, I explained to Digit what he had to do so he can save Mat, Jackie and Inez. I clonked out again after giving the explanation, but I could still hear what was going on. I shared Digit's mistrust of Wicked, however, I understood that it was the only way for him to save the kids. After Digit and Wicked left, I allowed myself to do one thing I never let myself do when others are around, I cried.
When anyone else was around, I made sure to act like the strong leader they expected, I couldn't let them see my moments of weakness. Maybe it's my fault they were in this mess. I know that if it wasn't for their efforts, Hacker would have control of Cyberspace by now, but they each had their normal lives, and they risk that everyday for a land they never thought was real until that day in the library. I closed my eyes and pictured what they would be doing if I never got them in this mess. It felt like hours went by before I got the news that Matt, Inez and Jackie were alright. Wicked tried to capture them in order to convince me to give her control over cyberspace, but they managed to escape. They're very smart kids after all.
I almost told them about my fears, how it might be best if they turned back and led the lives they planned to, but even after this near-tragity, I saw something amazing in their eyes. The fight gave them the confidence to lead their lives better then anything else. I couldn't take that from them and once again, my fears went unspoken.
A few days later, I checked on them to make sure that they were alright and not too afraid of what happened. I was glad that they were alright. Over the past few years that we've known each other, we've grown to be really close. I know this feeling of tranquility won't last, next time they're in danger during a mission, the fears will return, but for now, I'll just enjoy the relief that everything turned out fine.
~This is my first attempt at this kind of story so if you have any suggestions, feel free to put them in a review.~
