AN Just some Sam and Cas bro feels. Enjoy!

Snow Angels

"Uh... Hey Cas..." Sam said, glancing down at the angel. "Are you waiting for Dean or something?"

Sam examined the man. Castiel's dark hair was damp with melted snowflakes, and his tan trench coat appeared to be soaked through. However, despite these unpleasantries, Cas was still lying on the snow, next to a little girl with blond hair and a pink toque, making what appeared to be a snow angel.

"No, I am not waiting for Dean. In fact, I believe that Dean is the one waiting for me." Castiel beamed from the ground beside the motel the Winchesters were staying at.

Sam smiled. "And who is this young lady?" He bent down to the girl, careful not to damage her snow angel.

She smiled back at him. After all, with his floppy hair and his kind eyes, Sam was easily trusted. He had that kind of face. "My name's Megan and this man has never heard of a snow angel before! I was showing him how."

Sam's hazel eyes widened cartoonishly. "Well it's a good thing that you are! My friend Cas here seems to be lacking a lot of important knowledge here." He stood back up. "It's lucky you're such a good teacher!"

Castiel looked up at Sam, realizing that he had never seen this carefree side of the moose of a man, as Crowley had so dubbed him.

"Megan!" A woman's voice called out from across the street.

Up popped the young girl, smiling at both men. "Thanks for playing with me, Cas!" And off she ran in the direction of her mother.

After a moment of silence, Sam spoke up. "Do you want to make Dean wait a little bit longer? I'm sure it'll make him antsy. It's not like we have a case or anything, so..."

The angel seemed to ponder the idea before looking smugly at the door he should probably go through to speak with Dean. "Would you like to make snow angels with me, Sam? I don't think I'm going anywhere."

Sam shrugged care-freely and found a spot relatively near Castiel, but far enough away so that it would not disturb Megan's or Cas' snow angel. Sitting down on the sheet of snow, a shiver ran up his spine, but it was not a shiver of discomfort but rather a fond memory of carefree days with his brother.

The two men lay there in silence.

Above them the world continued to fall away and in that moment every responsibility they had seemed to melt off with every passing second. They were no longer the ex-demon blood addict, and the angel that tried to overtake heaven. Instead they floated.

"Cas?"

"Yes, Sam?"

"It's a little ironic that you're an angel making snow angels."

A chuckle and a lopsided smile. "I suppose it is... Sam?"

"Yeah?"

"You called me your friend to that child."

"Well, you are aren't you?"

"I... Suppose I am."

A pause.

"Think we should go inside?"

"I believe I am, as Dean would say, 'freezing my ass off'."

A snort. "Yeah me too."

"Sam?"

"Yes?"

"Thanks..."

"Any time."

And the two angels stayed behind, frozen in time, peaceful and content.

AN So I don't think there is enough Castiel and Sam bro fics out there. Hopefully, this little ficlet I wrote for my writer's craft class will encourage some more. I had fun writing this and I really love reviews. Short or long, I love them all. -Ash
