A/N: It was 1am when i started to write this... it just came into my head.
Caged Birds Dont Stay ...
The emotions just kept piling up higher and higher until I could hold them no longer. I shook madly, crying into the shoulder of the person I had loved….
I brushed away a piece of his hair that covered his sweet face. I thought to myself, as I stared into the open blackness that was the sky, it's a clear and bright night. You'll be able to make it there safely. I placed his body down and removed his hitai-ate revealing underneath his bare forehead. I slowly bent down, my tears pooling on his bloody face, and kissed his forehead tenderly as I stroked his chin.
No longer are you in a locked cage,
No longer will you see through bars of rage.
My heart thumped hard against my chest and his, hoping to somehow start his again. As much as I longed for you to be with me again, it was better this way. It was better to accept this fate, this chance to be free now rather than later.
For now you can soar,
For a million miles or more.
The bright clear sky began to disappear behind dark clouds as the gates to heaven closed.
Rain hit my head as I placed his body back down in the long grass.
I screamed as loudly as I could. I screamed and the sky replied with thousands of droplets.
I covered him with my body as I closed my eyes, going to a better world, where he'd be waiting in my dreams.
Because a free bird may come and go as please,
But a caged bird will fly away on the next breeze.
