It seemed fitting, the rain. It soothed him outwardly, drawing out a calm that made his skin tingle. The deep throaty sounds of thunder sufficed in place of his own cries. Lightning flashes brought bits of memory up, tinged in a blue-white haze of heat.

No tears escaped either of his mismatched eyes. One of them spun with three comma-tails. They danced around the void of the pupil. Neither of his eyes betrayed emotion.

The tight-fitting fabric that covered the lower half of his face was soaked. His breath was ragged and uneven, making for the sounds of a feral animal, despite his outward cool demeanor. Silver hair drenched by the torrents of water hung down instead of their usual upward position. Only the headband kept it from his eyes.

Both of his hands were on the ground in front of him, his body in a crouched position. His muscles were tensed, his whole body was tensed, displaying the bit of animal rage he refused to show in his eyes. Then something behind him shifted, and his head turned.

Had his whole face been shown, the normally calm features would have been twisted in a silent snarl of rage. In another flash of lightning, he struck. A blue light flickered after the lightning, then disappeared.

His shoulders slumped as he squatted again, head bent in sorrow. Three lifeless bodies lay in a circle, forming a sort of wheel that reflected his blood-red eye. They were ones that he had failed to save. Ones he had started to love in a way not unlike a father. He lifted his face and pulled down his mask to let the rain take everything away.

He was utterly alone.
