He could see the men dragging this girl from a mile away. She was trembling and sobbing. They brought her into His midst.
"Teacher," the leader of the scribes said, "This woman was caught in the very act of adultery... in the very act. According to the law it says that she should be stoned but what do you say."
He could see several things wrong with this picture already. First of all He knew this young lady. She was His youngest sister. He also knew that they set her up and she had done no such thing.
She was looking down at the ground. He took his finger and wrote His first message on the ground.
Fear not. I have you covered
.
She relaxed a little bit. Next he wrote a message to the men.
WHERE IS THE MAN?
They kept on pestering Him. He ignored it. Finally they stopped talking and He stood up.
"Fine," He said, "You want my answer? He who is without sin among you; let him be the first to throne a stone at her."
They looked absolutely humilated. One man picked up a stone But then he remembered a sin he had committed and slumped away. The same followed. Finally there was no more. It was just Him and His youngest sister. Gently He lifted her up.
"Where are those accursers of yours," He asked her gently, "Does any man here condemn you?"
"No man," she said in a whisper.
He put his arms around her just like he did when she had a nightmare as a child and whispered that He didn't either. Then He sent her on her way to continue not to sin anymore. She would remember those words forever. She would always remember the love of her brother.
