Short story about Shisui and Itachi's relationship.
He knew he was running out of time. They'd already grabbed ahold of him; twisting, maiming, destroying his thoughts and anything individual as if they were weeds in a garden. (So perfect. Every one was so perfect.)
He couldn't wait much longer.
They didn't know it, but Shisui saw it. He saw it coming from the very day he met Itachi;
"Shisui-san, this is Itachi-kun. He is your cousin. Be wise, and teach him all you know."
The words, the scene, all still played fresh in his mind, more real than yesterday.
("Itachi-san, have you-"
"I am here to kill you, cousin; they have requested it."
"Who has-?"
"The clan, cousin."
"Ah."
"Ah...? Is that all you have to say?"
"Yes, Itachi-san.")
He'd been so very ignorant. So proud to do the clan's will. (It was absolutely sickening.) But Shisui was going to save him. Save Itachi from the people who were going to destroy him.
But Itachi wouldn't listen. He wouldn't agree to what Shisui said.
("Itachi-san, don't kill me. Come with me, instead."
"I can't, cousin.")
