Scared Little Piggy
Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, Linus and Snoopy laid down the plaid picnic cloth so they could all enjoy the fireworks that night.
A very sleepy PigPen was holding Patty Swanson's hand as she carried a backpack full of snacks on her back and was firmly holding Sally's hand in the other one.
Schroeder had settled down and began playing 'Moonlight Sonata' on his piano
During that time, Lucy was chasing fireflies with Rerun and Woodstock.
In addition, Franklin was reading a story to Marcie. Violet and Frieda were preparing pillows and games for everyone, Faron was sleeping on Frieda's lap, Eudora was sleeping with her dark blue hat covering her face and Shermy was humming a little.
It didn't take long for the gang to get comfortable for the fireworks, however; not everyone was excited.
PigPen curled up next to Patty Swanson and drowsily muttered, "I'm scared, Patty I've never seen fireworks and I hear that they're so noisy…in fact, I don't want to see the fire…works at…all…." Patty smiled as her messy friend slowly fell into a deep slumber, but it was everything but peaceful.
"The fireworks had come out and it began to amaze the gang and scare PigPen. He hated loud noises more than taking bathes. He quivered a little, worrily he yelled out, 'THESE FIREWORKS ARE DRIVING ME INSANE!'"
A gentle hand awoke the little boy as he sat up in shock. Patty chuckled a little and said, "Did you have a nightmare, you little rascal?" PigPen nodded his head in agreement before feeling her arms wrap around him. "It's alright. I get scared too." She reassured. The messy boy looked into her lime-green eyes before asking what she's afraid of.
"I'm afraid of spiders because they're so…crawly." She explained before a tomboy's voice chimed in, "I'm afraid of getting D minuses on my test papers." Another voice added, "I'm afraid of the dark." And another said, "I'm afraid of heights." Another voice exclaimed, "I'm afraid of needles and the dentist."
Hearing all of this, Patty wrapped an arm around PigPen and reassured him that everything will be all right. The others agreed with Patty as they too nodded their heads in agreement. Charlie Brown walked over towards them and said, "There will be nothing to be afraid of. We're here to help each other feel better."
Soon, a bright, mint green light sparked across the sky. "Those are fireworks." Patty explained. "They're not as scary as I thought." PigPen replied as he hugged Patty. Other fireworks danced in the night sky and everyone applauded. Snoopy turned to Woodstock and thought, "This experience isn't so bad, and it is nice to get away from the War too." Woodstock chirped happily before flying into Snoopy's paws and falling asleep in them.
A few minutes after the last firework sparked, the gang heard a loud noise. "What's that noise?" Sally asked afraid. Soon all eyes were turned on PigPen, who was sleeping soundly for the rest of the night.
Linus and his siblings were asleep next, followed by Snoopy and Shermy. Soon the only one awake was Patty, who kissed PigPen on the forehead and was soon, also sound asleep.
