"Do you forgive me?" Marcus held back the tears and gripped on tighter to her hand.

"There is nothing to forgive Abby." She shakes her head the best she is able which wasn't much.

"Please Marcus." He can barely understand her. He doesn't want to look away but he dares to turn towards Jackson. The look on his face said it all.

"Abby it's gonna be okay. I promise."

"I'm sorry Marcus please forg…" Marcus watches in horror as her words cut off and her eyes shut closed. He had witnessed death before. He just stays where he was for at least five minutes. Jackson respects his space. He too grieving in his way. At last Marcus lets go on her hand and stands up.

"Jackson?" He calls out his eyes never leaving her.

"Yes?"

"Thank you for everything you did. I know you did everything possible to save them both."

"I could have tried harder. I could have split the dose…" Marcus again turns towards the young doctor smiling weakly at him.

"No. There was only enough to save one and we both know Abby would never allow it be her. You did the right thing." Jackson turns from view in a feeble attempt to hide fresh forming tears before walking out of the medical bay. Marcus drops back to his knees and takes a hold of still warm hand.

"Abby you wanted me to forgive you for sacrificing your life. For giving that little boy a chance to live. In which he's gonna be fine. But there is nothing to forgive. I am not upset. Heart broken? God yes and forever more. Upset? I am so proud of you. We may meet again." His falls onto her arm and he begins to sob.
