Annabeth Chase, Athena's Daughter, One of the Seven of the Second Great Prophecy and, notably, Percy Jackson's girlfriend, raised her knife and parried a downward strike to her head, countering with a side-blow that knocked down her opponent's guard. As soon they were undefended, she step in and pressed her knife to their neck. Then, she stepped back and nodded.
"Good game," she thanked her opponent, "You need to work on your reflexes, though."
Annabeth went to stand out and two other people stepped up to practice where she was. She took a sip from her water bottle, wiping her sweat on the back of her hand. Looking up, she noticed Percy a little ways away, hacking on a dummy. Annabeth wondered how he could be so flawless, even when he swung too far to the right, missed the dummy, and was thrown off- balance by his own momentum. Annabeth lost track of how long she'd been staring and suddenly felt two arms wrap around her shoulders from different directions.
"Quite a nice view of that empty space of practice ground, ay?" one of her cabin mates, Malcom, said.
"You know, Malcom, I don't think that's what she's staring at, is it? " said the other.
"I don't either. If it was, she would have realized it was her turn to fight."
Annabeth rolled her eyes as she was (forcefully in her opinion) pulled back to reality and pushed the two boys off her. The next opponent was a son of Ares and was more challenging than the last. They sparred, nodded their thanks and went their separate ways. Looking up from polishing her knife on the hem of her T-shirt, she noticed Percy watching her. She smiled and he waved. She waved back.
Then he came over, sweaty from the sun and the work out.
"Hey, Seaweed Brain."
"Hey, Wise Girl," he was panting slightly still.
He walked closer, throwing his persperated arms around her.
"Long time no see, huh?"
"Ugh, Seaweed," she squirmed, pushing him off her, "Brain, that's... gross."
He grinned at her, "Happy to oblige, Annabeth."
She rolled her eyes.
"I'll hug you later, Percy, just not now. It's too hot and we're both sweaty anyway."
"See ya' later then, Wise girl," he smiled over his shoulder, eyes sparkling, as he went to his next activity.
Good thing his activity after his next would be with me.
