It had been a busy several days for both Winchester men and not all of it went as smooth as it had been planned. The guys had been dealing with a nest of vampires and the young girl they were protecting wound up being turned into a full vampire. Now as he lay there in his bed at the bunker the guys lived in, Sam sighed in his sleep as he began to dream of the final moments before they moved in to find the girl's family.

Sam, Dean, and the young girl, Kim were right outside the cabin where the nest had taken Kim's family. Sam had massive doubts of his brother's non-plan but chose to follow him anyway. Sam turned and noticed the fear in the young girl's eyes. He reached his hand out to her and placed it on her shoulder to comfort her. "We will get your family back. I promise. We will also protect you, Kim."

Kim shot him a small smile and nodded. She obviously didn't feel the same confidence he was forcing in his words. She sighed impatiently as they waited for the signal to move in. She had kept it to herself she could hear a voice in her head telling her to leave the Winchesters and move in on her own to meet with the leader, Lucas. She slipped away as soon as neither Sam or Dean were looking her way and moved inside.

Dean meanwhile glanced to his little brother to ask if he was ready when he noticed Kim wasn't there. "Damn it!" He cursed angrily. He sighed and added, "She must of moved in on her own without us."

Sam nodded and sighed. "Yeah."

The guys moved in then and the battle began. It got hairy for awhile, but out of the corner of his eye after Sam managed to kill three vampires Kim was being held by her neck in the tight grip by Lucas himself. He started for them when he was punched in the face by another and knocked to the ground by a punch to the stomach which knocked the wind out of him. He glanced to the floor and then back up just as Lucas choked the life out of Kim and then tossed her aside like a ragdoll.

"No!" Sam called out and went into a fit of coughing. He was still on his knees.

Dean heard him as he took out another and quickly looked to his younger brother. Noticing he hadn't yet got up, he hurried to his side. "Sam! Sam, you okay?" He noticed the direction Sam was looking and he also refocused his eyes on the now deceased form. "Oh God!" He said, clearly shaken. "She was just a freaking kid!"

Tears streamed down Sam's cheeks as he felt a arm circle his shoulders. He knew it was Dean without even looking at him. "Why did they do this to her?" He asked, clearly broken-hearted.

"I don't know, Sammy." Dean said. Just then a loud crack could be heard and Dean's eyes glazed over as Sam fell back to his knees. Dean dropped over in a dead heap much to the shock of his brother.

"DEAN!" Sam screamed in terror. He had been having this dream for the past two nights...ever since they had returned from the hunt. Sam woke up in tears and shaking badly. He was also drenched in sweat. Loud sobs filled his room as he struggled to calm down.

"Sammy!" Dean called out as he hurried into the room. He quickly moved in and shook his brother awake. "Sam, I'm here." He sat down on the side of the bed and pulled his little brother into his arms. He sighed as he heard the broken sobs of his younger brother.

"I had that dream again, Dean. This time Lucas killed you, too." Sam said.

"He didn't get me. I'm here. I'm okay." Dean reminded him.

After Sam finally was able to calm down, the brothers began discussing in detail the dream, sorting through which happened and which part was Sam's nightmare. He helped calm Sam's nerves and also forced a realization from both of them-they were both scared to lose each other.
