Rachel Berry sat staring out the window, watching the rain as it started to fall. Kurt was sleeping only a room away, yet Rachel felt alone in the apartment- alone in the world even. This loneliness was now becoming constant to Rachel. She never quite felt as though she was complete anymore. And through this nothing felt right. Even the melodies of her favorite ballads seemed altered, as though there was a note missing. Rachel played through the events of her day as she did every night, searching for what may have happened to make her feel this way.

She had attended her classes as usual, spent time with Kurt as always, and had gone on her date with Brody… Rachel cringed unintentionally. She thought her way through that one. He had picked her up at the door, kissed her on the cheek, and walked her out of the building. They walked to a nice restaurant, one of which Rachel did not know or care to know the name of, and ate a candle-lit meal. Brody paid for the bill and brought her back home. When he asked to come inside she declined and he accepted as a gentleman should. Brody was always accepting of these sort of things, even if Rachel was never quite….nice about the way she declined. It was always the same, he would begin to ask if he could stay and before he could even finish the question Rachel was shaking her head and telling him no. It wasn't that Rachel was trying to be blunt and stubborn, but she just couldn't imagine getting that far with Brody. In fact, she couldn't imagine having a real future with him at all. This caught her off-guard. She was known for always dreaming up her future, and with Brody she just simply could not.

Closing her eyes tightly, Rachel tried to picture her future. She thought about a possible wedding. In her head she saw the church doors open and her wedding party began to walk in. It was finally her turn and her fathers came to her side. The three linked arms and headed into the church. All eyes were on her now but her eyes were only locked on one other person's- the groom. He smiled a warm kind of smile that made her heart melt as she smiled back. His eyes twinkled in the light of the church but also in the way that he looked at her, the way that he always looked at her. Rachel approached the alter and took the hand of her very soon husband-to-be as her dads gave her away. The groom leaned in to kiss her on the cheek and-

Knock! Knock!

Rachel's eyes shot open, pulling her back into reality. She sighed as she headed to the door, wondering who it could possibly be at this late hour. She pushed the door open and suddenly her heart began to melt as the visitor smiled a warm smile and his eyes twinkled from the way that he looked at her.

"Finn!" Rachel squealed. "What are you doing here?"

Finn took a breath, nervous of being pushed away again. "Rachel, I know I shouldn't be here, and I know you're probably still with that Brody guy, and I know you said you never wanted to see me again, but I-". Rachel threw her arms around Finn's neck and pulled into him. She kissed him soft on the lips, and in that kiss she suddenly felt complete. "-love you," Finn finished as they pulled away.

Rachel smiled. "I love you too," she responded, more sure than ever that this statement was completely and utterly true. "I love you so much."
