This is my first one shot, all about Wally dying no less. Anyone else burst into tears? It's a song fic, Smiling Down by Pillar, and I don't own the song or any characters.

Artemis opened the door to their, her, flat. Her blonde hair was missed around her head, her grey eyes downcast, churning with emotions like ocean waves during a storm. Wally was dead. It hadn't settled in till now, walking into the empty apartment they had lived in together. It was quiet, too quiet. But there were still signs of him living here, his dirty laundry in the hallway, a couple of plates in the sink. Walking into the bedroom, she collapsed down onto the unmade bed that still faintly smelled of him, bursting out into tears that she couldn't hold back any longer.
She didn't know how long she stayed like that, letting her tears spill down her cheeks, but eventually she stood, dried her eyes, and looked around the room again. His IPod still rested on the bedside table, and she picked it up. He didn't have a code, didn't have the patience to type it in every time, so she just unlocked it and turned on the first song it came to. It was Smiling Down, by Pillar. It was like he knew he was going to die today, setting the sad song of love and loss to be the first thing that played. As the words grew more and more meaning to the blonde sitting on the bed, her tears made a reappearance.

Artemis slowly stopped crying, and walked over to the window. She cautiously peeked out from behind the curtains, staring up at the clouded aloud Palo Alto. Was he really up there? She asked herself. Was he really smiling down? She sighed, closing the curtains. She set up the song to play through the sound system all around the entire apartment, and set her jaw.

Wally wouldn't want her to mope. He'd want her to go and have her own life, be brave and face the world, like she faced her past all those years ago. Glancing at a picture of her and Wally that had been taken just before her undercover mission, she smiled.
"I love you, Wally," she said to thin air.

And Wally was right there, smiling down on her.
