A mother stood in the nursery holding her daughter while humming a tune that had been stuck in her head for a few hours, courtesy of her husband's music choices. Her husband stood in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest before stepped farther into the room as his wife laid the sleepy baby down in the crib.
"She's so beautiful," the woman whispered to her curly-haired hubby.
"Just like you, Jackie." Hyde replied.
"Steven, how did we ever get a life this good?"
"I don't know babe, let's just live in the moment."
"Oh, alright." Jackie kissed her husband and said, "I'm gonna go to bed. Come with me soon?"
Hyde nodded and kissed her forehead before giving her butt a good spank as she left the room. She looked over her shoulder and gave him a smile before she went back down the hall to their shared bedroom.
Looking in her direction, Hyde had to smile. They'd had many ups and downs, a stripper wife had been brought into the mix for a short while, but now life was good. Jackie broke up with Fez shortly after their relationship began, and Hyde finally had the nerve to tell her how he truly felt. He completely contradicted everything he told himself that he'd never do. He got mushy, broke down and bought her gifts. He told her the words she'd been needing to hear for a long time.
Steven Hyde was a completely different man when he was with the love of his life. They had a beautiful wedding, an almost perfect relationship, and a beautiful baby girl. They were great parents who took care of their little Kathy Hyde than any of their biological or presumed biological parents ever treated them.
Hyde watched his baby girl sleep for a few minutes before following his wife to their bedroom. As he crawled into bed behind her and held Jackie in his arms, he thought to himself, This is the Life.
