Barking Mad
By: ChoCedric
Cornelius Fudge thinks that Albus Dumbledore is barking mad. No, quite plain mental. He wants to take over the Ministry, wants the wizarding population to believe that an evil dark wizard who's been dead for thirteen years has suddenly arisen again, all because his Golden Boy said so. Fudge thinks the man is unusually obsessed with Harry Potter, and it's almost a scary thing. When he came back clutching Diggory's body and claiming that You-Know-Who was back, the old coot instantly believed him.
Fudge also thinks major changes need to take place at Hogwarts. Hiring werewolves just won't do! He put in Dolores Umbridge as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and he hopes that she will help the school to become a better learning environment for the students.
But his pride is totally smashed when he sees You-Know-Who with his very own eyes at the Ministry. He doesn't realize what a fool he's been, and when he learns that Umbridge sent the dementors after Harry, he's shocked beyond belief. Eventually, he is no longer Minister of Magic, and he feels a total sense of shame wash over him.
But even though he feels this way, in his heart he knows Albus Dumbledore is still barking mad. No, just plain mental. Yes, indeed.
