This is a little journal entry from my English class. We have to write for ten minutes every day, so I decided to post some of them here. The topic she gave us is
"It's alright letting yourself go as long as you can get yourself back."
- Mick Jagger
Calvin the Avenger rushed into the cave where the horrible sphinx was torturing innocent village people by asking ridiculous and useless riddles that was impossible to answer.
"Poor villagers," thought the Avenger. The Sphinx would belittle any brave soul who answered incorrectly on the impossible phrase. Her next victim was a little farmer's girl named Suzie.
"Derkins girl, what is twice the number of the blades of grass in the city of Athens?"
Calvin couldn't hold it in any longer. He lunged at the monster, his blade shining bright in the candlelight. It was too late; the cave was sealed, manacles appeared on his legs, and was forced to sit due to the pressure of the slab of rock on his legs. She spoke, but he struggled so he couldn't hear.
"Calvin!" Mrs. Wormwood shouted, causing the boy to knap out of his fantasy. "Come up to the board and multiply three times seven."
