Harry Potter was not a normal sixteen year old boy, and his Uncle Vernon Dursley took the time to remind him of that fact every day. Before strange things started happening around him, the Dursleys, his only relatives, had only made him cook and clean, slapped him around a bit, perhaps. But ever since he had found out he was a wizard when he was eleven, and had gone off to Hogwarts, the treatment had gotten much worse.
He always fed himself excuses, 'It's only for the summer', 'They didn't want you in the first place, what do you expect?', but this summer had been particularly bad, and it wasn't just because of the Dursleys. Everything that has happened to him of the course of his Hogwarts years, the deaths, the destruction, the bloody resurrection of Voldemort, had finally come crashing down in a long bought of depression over the summer. It was expected of course. He should feel guilty, he'd been responsible for probably just as many deaths as the future Dark Lord had at the same age. His parents, Quirrel (although he supposed he should hardly feel bad about that one), Cedric Diggory, and now Sirius Black his former godfather. And this wasn't even counting all the deaths that he had indirectly caused, people like Bertha Jorkins, and the injuries, mayhem, and almost deaths.
Yes, he was a bad person, and he deserved to be called Freak, Liar, Stupid, deserved every single one of the beatings his Uncle gave him, and all the chores. He didn't need food anymore, didn't need anything anymore. He was a monster, just like Lord Voldemort, and he didn't deserve to be treated like a human. Everyone who had ever said anything negative about him was right. He was a freak, and he was definitely worthless.
