Pregnancies Shots Fired And Engagement Rings
"This is all my fault!" Kate Callahan said to herself quietly over and over in her head. As she stood next to her boyfriend Aaron Hotchner's hospital bedside. Watching his chest rise and fall with the help of a ventilator; Hotch was currently in a coma after losing a lot of blood during surgery. "It's all my fault Aaron is like this!" Kate said crying once again. "Is it really your fault Kate?" a voice said from the doorway breaking Kate out of her train of thought.
Wiping the tears quickly from her eyes Kate turned around to see Rossi standing in the doorway. "Oh hey Rossi need something" Kate said. "I should be asking you the same thing" Rossi said as he approached Kate. Kate instantly denied and said "I don't need anything Rossi really." "Well my dear Kate how come I don't believe that?" Rossi asked. After a little bit of coaxing from Rossi Kate finally broke down and cried into his shoulder. Even though her voice was muffled Rossi heard Kate say "This is all my fault if I had been a little quicker in drawing my gun; I could've shot to son of a bitch a lot sooner and Hotch wouldn't be in this position right now!"
"Kate none of this is your fault" Rossi said. "How could you say that of course it's my fault did you not hear what I said moments ago?!" Kate nearly shouted. "Kate calm down please" Rossi did his best to placate an angry Kate down. Rossi then said calmly "Aaron would have done the very same thing for any of us not just you Kate." Then in a very quiet voice as Kate looked back at Hotch; in his hospital bed she said all the while placing two hands on her still flat stomach " I haven't had a chance to tell him yet." "Tell Aaron what Kate?" Rossi asked unsure of what was she going to say. "That I am pregnant with his baby" Kate replied turning to face Rossi who just stood there shocked unsure what to say.
After a few moments of intense silence between the pair; Dave decided to break the silence by saying "Oh Kate Aaron asked me to give this to you" Rossi said as he was starting to leave the room. Kate for a few moments looked at and then took the small black box; out of Rossi's hand as Rossi started to walk down the hall looking over his shoulder he shouted at Kate "You can tell Aaron your answer when he wakes up!" As Kate watched Rossi leave she was slightly confused by what he said. As she walked back into Aaron's hospital room; what did Rossi mean by I can tell Aaron my answer when he wakes up Kate thought to herself. As Kate made herself comfortable in a chair next to Aaron's bedside for a few minutes she gazed sadly at his still form; before turning her attention back to the small black box Rossi gave her. Taking a deep breath Kate opened the little black box and gasped; inside the box was the most beautiful engagement ring Kate ever saw. Kate immediately took the ring out and slipped it onto her finger then she looked at Aaron and said "My answer is yes Aaron my answer is yes." As Kate turned away to admire her engagement ring she failed to notice a small smirk forming on Hotch's face.
