Lie
by Carlson
He looked up at the artificial sky of the Capsule Corporation's animal sanctuary, his fingers twitching. Bulma, the blue-haired scientist, couldn't help but stare at the boy. Though she could only see the tousled black locks that laid haphazardly across the back of his head, she could just feel that he was crying.
She had seen him do it before, when he was very young. The tears then were fearful. As he was held carelessly by his heartless uncle and taken away, his cheeks never dried and his screams never died. These tears, though, these tears were different. They were filled with sadness and remorse. Yes, they were anguished, but above all, they were guilty.
Bulma wished to go to the child and hug him, to tell him everything was going to be okay, and yet, she couldn't. She couldn't bring herself to lie to the boy.
