He was the type of boy that ran away

Took his memories with him like a reaper in the night

Breaking hearts as he travelled

Down the path of self-destruction

They said not to fall for him

Eyes green as the grass he lived on

Wisdom too much for his years

She didn't listen

She fell too hard

And so did he

She escaped her troubles with a land all her own

A place of sickly green grass

Trees that lined the ocean's waves

Birds chirped in the sun and howled in the wind

Water that glistened with a touch

Felt like silk to the bone

Dreamers felt like this

Lives never ran out

Youth was among all

She met him here on a bright dusky morning

He greeted her with bow and a wink

She greeted him with a slight smile back

And somehow she knew he was different than others before

As they sat near the waterfall

His question haunted her for days

Stay he said and repeated it twice

As she cried it rained and it thundered with rage

A silent morning turned to a lifeless night

I want grow up she spoke this all isn't real

He reminded her of the grass, the water, the birds

She almost caved in

What a storyteller he was

Then leave he screamed as lightning struck down

Her vision blurred like a hazy sleep

A shadow black like the night but visible by day appeared

Take her away he screamed like a madden king

The memories we shared she will forget them all

She thrashed and screamed but he turned away

When she looked back at the descending world

She saw the black center where the light never hit

Terrors of children from nightmares and loss of a love one was a piercing sound

The shadow leaned in close

Numbness started to engulf her

This could have been all ours he whispered

Our own Neverland
